Russell only took seven shots man. He's not a Steph Curry as far as shooting the basketball right now and I'm not sure there will ever be someone like him. His passing ability and his court vision along with his size is always what impressed me most.

I actually agree. He had solid debut but he definitely looked like an Al Jefferson to me. I don't see him as a defender and that's why I think we passed on him.

And there is no way he would have scored that many points with us because we wouldn't have gotten him the ball.

Most especially when the front office did what LB told them not to do ..... get "cute" with the 2nd pick and pass on the future all star Big Man option in Okafor, who wanted to be a Laker in the worst way. Clarkson wasn't looking all that shabby at the point, pick up Huertas and some other PG vet minimum and we're good to go. Byron is using Jordan as much as Russell that way anyway last night. Smack all our heads.

Steph may be the best shooter of all time. I'm going to at least wait until game five before I expect that kind of shooting from Russell. Lol.

To ease his workload? Meaning give him zero to do? Byron is a moron.

Me too. Always drawn to him mainly for his passing and playmaking. Which is why I was so irritated by us playing him at the two. If you watched him play in college then you know he plays better with the ball in his hands and generally let the game come to him instead of forcing the issue.

We should put Hibbert @ the 2 to ease his workload too.

Yeah. That makes zero sense but I am trying to just take the win that we are at least playing Russell where he belongs.

I'm not giving up on Russell or anything, I'm not saying after one game we made a mistake. Okafor is ready now, he's polished offensively on a bad team with the green light, he's going to put up numbers. I'm saying if you draft a PG, USE him as a PG. don't draft a guy at #2 to stand around. If we aren't going to use Russell, then yeah, we could have had Okafor to go with Clarkson and Randle. But we took him, so give him the damn ball.

I think it's clear from what we've heard the Lakers plan was to draft Russell and get Aldridge, and they struck out. Russell may yet turn out to be the better pick, but I can't help but see our plan to take a guard as because we thought we were gonna sign a star big. Mitch made a huge save in getting Hibbert, but it almost looked disastrous for us before that passing on Okafor.

Well, that is the general consensus now, but Mudiay was the better pure PG prospect back in March/April. It is the shooting of Russell that put him over the edge. You have to understand we've been dissecting these lottery picks for months now, before you joined.

And I'm judging him based on his summer league and preseason games, not just yesterday's game.

I agree his shooting has been disappointing. He changes his shot a lot instead of having one smooth and consistent shot form. When it goes in, his shots don't hit the rim, but when they're off they miss badly. He's got to get consistent.

    Now this is surprising.

From these rankings his stats would seem alot higher than his preseason average of: 6.9 PTS, 3.3 AST, 2.4 REB, 38.6 FG%, 29.4 3P%

Just got an espn update about Russell moving to his position. He got the 6th most touches. Your #2 pick, you future, your lead guard...6th most touches. If that's how Scott plans to use him, he needs to go. If that's the plan the FO is ok with, then it was a horrible, wasted pick with no contingency of if LMA went elsewhere (which he obviously did).

And a quick note on Jah. The 70centers have no PG. I expect a high TO rate right now given who they have feeding him the ball.

Yeah. The amount of touches he got is just absurd.

This is surprising since Scott's previous coaching successes were a result of him using his talented point guard [Kidd, Paul] to the run the show. It just one game though so let's see where it progresses from here...

Neither Kidd or Paul listened to Byron. If they did, they would SUCK under his tenure ;).
