It's actually AMAZING he is 20 years old.
I knew he had alot of skills, but to see from him so much swagger without playing one full NBA game is stunning.

So many great things about that one play. For one, he drove and attempted to finish with his right. On top of that, it was against one of the best defenders in the league. The trash talk afterwards screams of the confidence he's developing. I love the aggressiveness this guy is showing. He and Clarkson have a little old school feel to their games in the sense that they attack their defenders relentlessly, with a "try to stop me" mentality. The league is gonna get put on notice this year that these kids are coming.

Randle and Clarkson, the next great 1 2 punch.
    I think it's definitely possible.

It was really refreshing to see a young person have that sort of confidence that Randle had the other day. It is rare to see that level of intensity in todays NBA, it seems most young guys are just out there to have fun.

I wonder if green started the trash talking. he was being physical early, and randle was having none of it. I just haven't seen randle talk like that after drawing a foul. typically, I find it to be poor form--unless the other guy started it. I'm guessing that's what happened.

anyway, good job attacking. he's playing more under control on the dribble. hopefully, he'll keep improving in terms of finishing at the basket. he went for a sweet one-foot fade bankshot that almost went down, too...that would be nasty.

Has to be it. I've never seen Julius trash talk like that and it would make no sense to start talking like that in a preseason game unless Green started it.

He's a young dude coming off a missed season and hyped up... big freakin' deal if he went a little overboard. People are so sensitive these days.. Kobe was teabag dunking on people at that age.

Like mentioned above it looks like he rose to the challenge with Green anyway.. something sparked that response. If he does end up being an arrogant, dominant basketball player.. so be it. I'll be watching laughing my a** off.

I don't mind if Randle initiated it... the Lakers have been sticking Ron Artest on him all summer, I'm pretty sure he's not intimidated by anyone, Draymond included

    Just for kicks

    Ah... Ron.

Every time I see a video of him wearing someone else's uniform - I think "how the perception changes". Probably one of the most beloved Laker players of all time, isn't he?

It really does! I couldn't stand him before he wore the purple and gold. I was so mad when the Lakers signed him, but of course his kind personality came out and I got to see a different side of him. I didn't like Karl Malone much before he was a Laker either, but then in that one season I found that he was a very solid contributor and I really fell in love with his game.

Generally I don't like that attitude from my players, but this time around I'd be okay with it. You guys got to remember Kobe is his favorite player. He's going to emulate him and one of Kobe's trademarks is his brash arrogance that grates on people. I think the kid is just coming into his own and so he's letting that side show a little bit. I'm not calling him Kobe, but he's going to do a lot of Kobe things. He was also calling for the ball unreasonably a few times that game too.

Green started it. Randle punished him for the trash talk with drives to the hoop instead of clunking outside shots.

Finishing around the rim is something that Randle has to master. His strength should actually give him the advantage there but so far, it hasn't come to fruition.

He is looking consistently good though in the pre-season so far. But ever since guys like Tierre Brown or Tony Bobbit were lacing it up in the pre-season, I have given up on seeing this as any kind of indication for regular season success.

I missed seeing this, will have to keep an early eye on these 2 the last (?) pre-season game. It's definitely on now.

It's good for his own preservation that he has Ron freaking Artest and Kobe freaking Bryant as mentors, especially mentally, for dealing with the crap he's going to get physically as a "rookie" from big strong guys. Julius is built and seems (understatement) to have the edge to him to give it right back. Would not be surprised to see a broken "beak" at times in his future. Him, opponents, combo of both.

Lovin the arrogance Randle. It is a blessing for these young guns to have Kobe and Metta around. You look at the league's faces these days and it's all buddy-buddy with guys like LeBron and Dwight.

Kobe will make sure these guys put in the work needed to back up that attitude.
