He replied to some comments on Facebook.... Shin Fu: COME BACK TO MAVS!!!!!! Jeremy Lin 林書豪 : Gotta go where they want me! Charlotte and Coach Clifford made it clear they really wanted and believed in me.
Of course that's what he's going to say now. He would've gotten more money and a guaranteed starting role in Dallas until this fiasco.
DJ is probably starting to realize there is no one to throw him lobs. Chandler and Mr Blazer are recovering from injury, Dirk is a mummy, and JJ Barea can barely see over the ball boys. It wasn't going to be pretty even if they got JLin.
Liked him before he got here. Has the tools and the talents just sometimes not mentally strong enough to exert himself on the court. Wish him luck though.
So the Mavs lost Lin, probably while scrambling to keep DJ, wow. If that's 2 mil per year for him that's a great deal. I don't even like Lin and I'd sign him for that with the way salaries went crazy for average free agents this offseason.
It is a great price. Kind of weird. Couldn't he have gotten more money on the Mavs? He also played with Parsons, and the two were best buddies.
I don't see how his hair has anything to do with people taking his him seriously as a basketball player. Plenty of ridiculous looking players in the NBA. Doesn't really matter how you look.
Many people connect those two things because experience tell them it's true. As a blanket statement it might be unfair, but the reality is that if you are performing at a high level, you can do/look how you want. When you are on the bubble, anything you say, do, wear will be questioned when millions are on the line. Many people would give just about anything for the opportunity these guys have, so any hint that they aren't putting every last bit of focus into it will be dissected.
True. Odell Beckham Jr.'s hair is ridiculous, but he's a monster so he gets to do what he wants and start a misguided fashion trend. I don't think bowl-cut-mohawk will catch on though...
There is a video of Sacre wearing funky socks at practice yesterday. My first thought was that it looked completely ridiculous and out of place as a professional athlete. Part of me thinks people dress to match their personality when they are comfortable in their own skin with who they are, and that's probably a good thing. Sacre came across to me as class clownish, and I think if you are seriously giving all you got to keep a million dollar career, it's not the right vibe to send. Who roots for the class clown? Lin is a creative personality, this we know, from his video making time in LA. He's also a pretty conservative Christian. This seemed a little out of place in a look at me with video game kind of hair kind of way. Strange message to send like Weezy said, when his focus clearly needs to be on improving his game. Who knows, maybe this inspires him to play his best, but it's a big change from any year before.
I was half joking, but I do stand by the statement. If you are a star player and look ridiculous, nobody is going to care, but if you're a role player or fringe NBA player, you're going to get made fun of. Webster got made fun of for his pineapple head. And Bynum, when he was coming out with weird hair, people thought he was going nuts. Appearance matters, more in the NBA than NFL because these guys are very visible. In the NFL to differentiate yourself, you have to be great or have a wild/recognizable look, or both. My point was, a hairdo like Lin's here, appears silly to me, like he's trying to draw attention to himself. But not for his play, for having a wild hairdo. That's what I mean about a good way to get people to take you serious. Instead of coming out saying you'll let your play do the talking, as a fringe NBA player, you try and get attention with hair. Is it for sure that's what he's doing? No, but that's what it appears, that's what appearance will do and why it matters to a point.
Probably why security did not recognize him or allow him access not believing he's a pro basketball player.
