Kobe: Roy, would you say you are more 'white swan' or 'black swan'?

Roy: who the f*** would want to be a swan? I'm more like a bald eagle mother******. Why didn't you call me b****?

    Kobe: you're welcome

Roy: ***smiles, and a tear wells up***

Kobe: now get get your soft, fat a** in the gym. I'm going to the finals this year, and I need you grabbing my rebounds.

    Roy: thank you Kobe!

Just sayin' he's not exactly Hakeem. I'll reward his hard work but Roy posted up will not often be our best advantage on the court.

I think I'd rather have Hibbert's mediocre post game as first option rather than brick after brick from our guards in the perimeter.

Hibbert will probably have a higher field goal % than the last "name" player we had at the 5 spot.

I like where Roy's head is at right now, besides it being a contract year for him.

Kobe's not 100% the same Kobe that will tear you a new one if you're not in line, he's not like that anymore. It seems Roy is VERY detail oriented in learning how to do something or why he's doing something, and what better person to do that than none other than the most detail oriented player in the game? That'll definitely benefit him on a developmental level and improve. He'll also help him with dealing with having off games, tuning out people talking smack, and media bias, and all that BS trash talk that comes along with being a Laker. Just help him focus on the one thing Kobe loves most, basketball.

It's actually a blessing that he wasn't signed on as a Free Agent either. There is so much more pressure into being a big name FA signing, or a big name trade, in a huge market like LA, that it can crack mentally weak players (See Dwight). People know who Roy is, but I don't think expectations are out the roof for him and that's perfectly fine for him. He doesn't need any added pressure and when he performs above those expectations, he'll get a big reception from the Laker fans and he could ride that confidence into the sunset.

Great article indeed and I absolutely believe that Kobe will do wonders for him and Hibbert will see, partially due to Kobe's age now, that he isn't as hard to get along with as the media suggests. I also think that the Hibbert we'll see this year will be the best he has ever played. He's in better shape now, its a contract year, he has a better support and teacher in Kobe, and he knows what his role is which is to play defense first and foremost.

    I'm very optimistic

[IMG] [IMG] Haha..... him and Upshaw. But there needs to be a "spoiler" with your post that says, " ...... must stick this out until 2:25 mark in the video. LOL. Had never seen the video (very good btw) and not all that familiar with the song in first place. But I was going to "mock" and say oh hell yeah that would make anyone want to go into a game and kick some serious a**. But then the fun starts and the Rocky pump you up portion.

Do it Roy. Do it Bob. :FistPump:

And Shaq was one of the Big Men he looked up to. He knows Kobe knew how to play with the Big Man. Who wouldn't expect Roy to ask him questions as well. I still say we would be unbelievably stupid to not take advantage of Roy on offense against small ball crap when needed. We can play it both ways.

I really really hope Upshaw is on roster of 15 as well. I saw some sequences with him moving his feet on defense that were WCS lite worthy. Really quick feet.

You're right that Kobe's not the same Kobe as far as chewing his teammates out so often, but I wouldn't count him him going completely soft. He knew last season's team wasn't a playoff team, he knew we had a bunch of stopgaps with 1 year left on their contracts that likely wouldn't be here long term, there wasn't much to be gained by putting a ton of effort into pushing those guys to become the best they could be. With this team potentially having a bit more hope to make the playoffs, I expect Kobe to push guys a lot more than last season. Especially the veterans like Hibbert, Lou Will, Swaggy. I fully expect Kobe to go all Pau on Roy.

I have very high hopes for Hibbert this season, but the 1 thing that really worries me is Byron. If he doesn't have the guys playing at a bottom 10 in the league pace, Roy simply won't have the impact he's capable of having on defense.

He was around 300 lbs last season, so yeah, he's slimmer for sure.

Hope he doesn't lose too much in his back pocket so guys like Okafor and Cousins can just move him back on the block. Should be great though for his quickness and rim protection.

What's kind of machine is that he's working on??
