Lebron has earned the right to play wherever he wants this year. If the team can't fully pay the max salary, the league should kick in the balance. It's the right thing to do.

so Lebron, all things being equal, where do you want to be? (let's cut through the BS shall we?)

can't remember which thread, but i posted yesterday that lebron to gs this summer has been telegraphed for a while now. i've been ready for it.

lots of short term pain and terrible PR incoming, but honestly, that will all just make me feel better about the choice not to offer him the player option last summer.

    Finally he's gone!

He's been here as long as Shaq and the Lakers have had a mediocre record. Glad to come out of this. They'll finally be enjoyable to watch

Watching Rob Sacre and Ryan Kelly was worse the two years before he came.

He is one of the best 3 ever.
He was absolutely amazing with us, playing at an incredible level through different seasons in old age.
He also kept the Lakers high standards with amazing work ethic, immaculate off-court behaviour and a bunch of records with a Lakers jersey.
He also came at a time where Lakers were struggling to be competitively relevant and helped push us to being a good team for a few years.
And he got us a ring.

    Thank you for that Bron.

On another hand, he always acted bigger than the franchise. Always leveraged his power to get better things for him than for the team. He pushed for the worse deal in franchise history and never took accountability. He constantly used media and his agent crew to bully us with narratives to make him look good. We gave his son a contract and opportunity that he didn't deserved and he never appreciated what we did for him and his family and legacy.
For that reason, for me he is not a Laker legend and I never felt he was. He is a basketball legend that played for the Lakers.
I imagine he might get a statue because of politics but I hope not. That's a disservice to so many Lakers legends that treated this franchise differently.

Wow! I did not expect this at all. Playing elsewhere and it’ll be for less than we could pay.

it’s all good though. He can choose his final destination and we can build around Luka. He got us a ring and really brought us back from irrelevancy. For that I’m thankful.

I'm glad he didn't diddle around until August. That was a lame thing to say. I wish him well.

He’s the greatest of all time. He saved our franchise at a moment where it was looking VERY bleak, went from being rejected by every free agent target to suddenly superstar like AD wanting to join the party and brought us a championship.

Always going to have immense appreciation for him and vouch for him when it comes to the GOAT conversations (he’s good with 4 championships though lol)

But yeah super excited to move on to a new era. It will be difficult to replace his production and of course a good chance that Rob botches this. But there is also a pathway for us to build a competent modern NBA team that fits around Luka and doesn’t rely on a 42 year old carrying the load. And that’s exciting.
