i'd empty the chamber for suggs, injury risks be damned. when orlando looked like they were going to be out in the play-in, i thought we were going to have a good shot at it. alas... this is a place i'm hoping to see the new ownership shine. can you convince him--without flagrantly violating the cba--to forego some current money with the promise that you'll take care of him when possible?
I seriously don't have any idea how we do it, but I would love to keep Bron, Smart and Luke while also strengthening the roster with some decent 3 & D players. Out of the three, I hope for Smart the most, since I feel he still has a few good years in him and has truly become the soul of this team. Bron, as great as he has been, is on the decline and may just cost too much, and Luke - while he's alsoo been a revelation - will become much more expendable with the full roster (compared tot he other two mentioned players, not that I consider him expendable as such, I absolutely love what he brings to the team).
Marcus isn’t a great shooter but he is a clutch shooter. They should try to get their 3nD guy through trades so they can use the cap on their own FA
I think the Magic are fools gold and they’ll lose this series. At that point, they’re going to have to make two tough decisions: Franz or Banchero and Black or Suggs. Franz and Banchero is obvious, they both play better without the other. Black vs Suggs however is a tougher situation, Suggs hasn’t been healthy enough while Black is coming on in leaps and bounds. I think two out of four of those guys could shake lose this offseason.
yeah, i just thought if they lost in the play-in, they're in a tremendous position of weakness. that's a second apron team in a weak conference not making the playoffs. having a hard-fought series against det gives them a little bit in terms of bargaining position both with the fanbase and (thus) with other teams in negotiations. they should probably liquidate one of those pairs for picks and immediate salary relief and the other for young talent. my selfish feeling is suggs to us for picks and most of his salary gone (maybe they take knecht back), and then wagner or banchero for a prospect (if you're memphis, do you trade coward for one of those guys?). though if it were me, i'd keep wagner and banchero--because theoretically that can work, but suggs/black is either/or for a variety of reasons.
Agreed. They looked like they were about to fall apart, but there is lots of rumblings that their coach is being fired regardless of what happens and I think with that they're going to build around Bane, Black and one of Wagner/Banchero.
Champion player. I don't care the cost. Cannot let him leave the building this summer. Winning play after winning play. His box score looks good but his non counting stats were 10x better than that.
Yeah. Just wrap him in bubble wrap during the regular season and unleash him during the playoffs. Hes delivering everything we wanted and more.
We are all going to be pissed if they don’t bring this dude back. He’s just so clutch- just like how Rondo was for us.
He can pass the ball. He made some clutch assists too. He did it all this game.He literally was like Scottie Pippen today
Marcus Smart is a LAKER. His time with the other team never happened. He won the game for us, with battling and fighting to the end. He is the heart and soul of this team. He is this team's Michael Cooper, Ron Artest, Derek Fisher, you get the picture.
Was not a big scoring game for him for 3 quarters, yet he impacted the game in every other way, just a winner. Then he scored when it mattered and hit clutch free throw after clutch free throw. He is the sort of player we were desperately missing last year.
Give Marcus Smart the max, I've seen enough. Build around him and Kleber no matter the cost. But seriously, what a competitor. You can win it all with guys like this on your side.
we need battle-hardened guys like Smart to win, compare how he's been playing to Laravia who looks like a deer in headlights out there.
He's tough MF: fell on his hip hard, jaw hit the floor and basically was the entire Lakers offense and a big part of the D in OT. I hope he gets another shot at the title - feels wrong the C Bags dumped him and then won a title. The basketball gods need to correct this travesty. The basketball gods punished the Lakers for Caruso time for payback
