I mean maybe, but you said they probably hated him! That's going a little far. :)

These dudes are all brothers of the greatest team to ever play the game. I think there's nothing but love for most of them, especially the really good ones.

I'd absolutely love if Cooper came home, but I think he's happy coaching in the WNBA honestly. Worthy actually had a pretty good session with the kids last year in camp. I'd like him as just one of those kinds of advisory types just like Kareem. Honestly I'd love if ALL the 80s guys came in every now and then and just gave the kids a lesson. How great would that be? Worthy for a little footwork lesson? Magic with a lesson on running the floor, knowing where your teammates will be (he'd be a great tutor to Russell)? Wilkes had a funky jumper, but it went in like Silk. I bet he could help Randle and Nance find consistency. Kareem obviously has worked with Hibbert already, why not Upshaw when he has a minute? Cooper giving them lessons on defense? I mean it'd be fantastic.

I hope you're right, but Pau never had a meltdown like Roy did. Hibbert seems far more mentally fragile to me

Not at Roy's level, but Pau was awful in the 2011 (?) Playoffs against Dallas. Remember Phil punching him in the chest?

This doesn't indicate "for a year". This seems to indicate that Byron doesn't get along with Cooper or Wilkes.

Gasol also had a tough time dealing with the Memphis press implying that he was dogging it on an injury prior to the trade to the Lakers. He shut down then too. That Dallas situation is still a mystery to this day...

Hibbert will be OK. He talked about just focusing on his role. Defense... The low expectations for this season will take some of the pressure off. Contract year... I expect a concentrated effort now that he will be given time unlike what he was to go through in Indiana had he stayed there.

Kobe knows how to get a competent big man the ball and damn well better show these guys if they can't figure it out. This isn't Rob Sacre and Roy has game. Would be stupid not to punish "small ball" teams with Hibbert.

I've seen clips of him with decent moves and touch around the basket both hands plus short J shots. Supposedly no one at Indy was very good with the passes. The guy is 7'2". Surely maestro Russell and Kobe ought to be able to get easy points out of him. Soft, huge hands as well.

Hibbert doesn't have the best hands at times to receive those passes; a little Kwame-esque if you will...

I saw a lot of the Pacers in the last few years and I can definitely attest they were pretty bad passing the ball.

Hibbert will never become a great scorer or anything of the sort, but he definitely has some moves and will never be a guy you can just forget about on defense to go and guard someone else (happened a lot with our centers last year). Hibbert has some pretty good post moves (way above average I'd say, though average is not saying much this days) and a decent midrange jumper. He can and will be recipient of some alley-oops and stuff, but he'll be below average at that because he pretty much can't jump. Also, he just won't bully his way in the paint (not much strength) and those stuff, so he losses some of the advantages his size could bring on offense, and it's the main reason why he doesn't score that much even if he's 7'2 and has post moves. But this is not him being soft, again, he was blessed (in basketball terms) with a great size, but like we've read in a few articles already, he's not really athletic and is not strong by nature, he just isn't capable of scoring too much in the paint against a strong defender... unless the size advantage is really big (see series against Miami).

Seemingly against popular opinion, something Hibbert definitely doesn't lack is head, that's why he became so damn good at keeping verticality (knew how to maximize what he actually had) and he also was more coordinated than most big guys, and developed some nice moves to be able to score in the paint even if he can't just go, push, jump and dunk over defenders. Also, he's a actually a pretty good passer and uses his height to see passes most people can't.

Forget the sugar coating. Roy Hibbert has flaws.

He is the epitome of a slow-moving plodder whose game raises questions of fit in the ever-increasing pace of the modern association. He has a propensity for letting passes slip through his hands and tends to struggle with easy opportunities at the rim far too often for a skilled 7’2” giant. He has shown an inability to deliver consistently from game to game — i.e. his NBA-record four scoreless postseason games in 2014 — and has been clouded by skepticism about his toughness and overall skill.

What is also true is that Roy Hibbert is a 28-year old, two-time All-Star who, despite his aforementioned flaws, has plenty of room to grow and an undeniable skill: rim protection.

I do, not the same level. I'm not saying Hibbert is the next Kwame but he seems to need special treatment. What I'm really trying to say is it's the only thing I am worried about as regards Roy. I hope you guys are right and he'll do just fine

@John3:16 he could no longer make a living playing hoops, so he decided to go the way of George Costanza.
