If Rui can shoot 44% then Luke can shoot higher!!

rui is support for my ongoing theory of the bizarro laker effect on shooters: bad shooters make more, good shooters make less.

strategy: sign more vando types, expecting one of them will suddenly develop a catch and shoot three.

    only half joking.

anyway, i will be curious to see how jj uses a movement shooter (we thought knecht was this, but alas). the theory behind getting klay to dallas last year was that his game would get so much easier with luka, but imo, klay's talent was that he didn't need a luka to make shots. it's guys like djj who desperately need a luka to make shots and then suddenly become insanely valuable in only that circumstance.

so i'm hoping for an amplifier effect, but i'm not sure that's possible/likely.

He is a good addition. I just can't believe Pelinka couldn't find some trade partners for Knecht & Kleber. For Knecht I would have just targeted 2nd, 3rd year players at the wing position that other teams are ready to move on from. Clearly no one wanted our expiring contracts, but anything back at positions of need would be better than keeping players that never play.

WE have 2 players on the G-league team that are having fabulous years, and they both seem to be great defenders which is our biggest problem. Promote Bufkin, he is the right size, is a great 3-point shooter, and plays his a$$ off on defense. I can't remember the other player but he also really fits our team. Both would be cheap additions.

Lebron clearly isn't interested in taking way less salary in order to have a legit chance at another ring. I would approach him with the idea of another year under $10 million with the opportunity to trade him and Bronny to the best eastern contender next year. We would at least get 1 solid younger player and some picks back.

he's going to get some GREAT looks here. the few games that klay played with luka that guy saw more space than he'd ever seen, lol.

Basically, the guy shows up (never played with the team before), gets 10/2/2 and a steal, shooting almost 60%, 50% for 3.

    Yeah.

That was a great debut, his driving and passing out got us multiple baskets, and he hit a big 3. Yeah he can’t defend, but neither could Gabe, at least Kennard is taller and can do other things.

A couple of instances showed restraint by passing the ball when he could have taken the shot. Keeps defenses honest.
