You might be right though, can't tell if he's gripping it because of the angle

Yeah not sure about him dropping weight, he's already a pretty slim guy. Just needs better weight (get them deadlifts working CORRECTLY).

Still though, I absolutely love his attitude. I think he's got a chance to stick around if he can be do exactly what he said: block shots, rebound, and get bunnies around the rim.

Reassuring that Hibbert is in touch with Abdul-Jabbar. The Captain would be a positive influence and mentor for him about mental focus, refining his game as well as being a professional. It isn't and doesn't look to be a just token meeting like the last guy we had around here.

Did they ever actually meet? I don't remember...

Kareem actually went to go say hi to Roy while Roy was at a martial arts workout. They're friendly so it should be a pretty good relationship.

Howard and Abdul-Jabbar did meet... They even took a picture together. Howard really is an OK person just not serious enough and self absorbed. Hibbert mentioned how Abdul-Jabbar has taken some interest in how his career and life is going. I reckon the mutual connection is there as Hibbert isn't all about the sporting life not your usual run of the mill jock.

Yeah for all that Hibbert is wrong, I don't think hard work is the problem. Even his old teammate David West said that Roy never stopped working hard even when he was struggling. It's great to hear that about a guy. As long as he brings that attitude to work here, I think our marriage could be a long one.

I honestly think the pick up of Hibbert is better than getting Jordan, Monroe,or the Lopez Bros with long term high ticket deals. Now Gasol or Aldridge to a lesser extent would of been better, but could be not by much.....

From a pure talent/fit perspective DeAndre Jordan was by far the best we could have gotten. He's a terrific defender, a physical beast, and he's great around the rim. The problem is he has the emotional/mental faculties of a toilet seat.

Other than that though I agree, Hibbert is a great fit.

Going to be pretty awesome to have a big guy that will tell his teammates "bring your man to me and I'll get the stop", and will actually deliver on it. After the layup drill that was Jordan Hill at C, Pau and Kaman, Pau and a Dwight that didn't try/have a coach that valued defense, it's going to be refreshing to watch. It's not only Roy protecting the rim, but Indy knowing they could funnel everything to the middle and play right up in guys jerseys with no fear of getting beat off the dribble for easy points helped them become the best team in the league at defending the 3 for many of the years Hibbert was there.

Byron has shown the ability to be a good defensive coach in the past, I just hope he's up to the challenge of utilizing big Roy properly. I wonder if they'd consider bringing in an assistant who knows how to get the most out of Roy. Shaw worked very closely with Roy in Indy and knows what he's capable of. Obviously Vogel was responsible for most of Indy's success, including Roy's, but he's not exactly an option. If Byron fails to build the defense around Roy, do we finally go after Thibs? Roy can have as big of an impact on an overall defense as any player in the league with a coach that knows how to make it work. I'd hate to see that go to waste, regardless of what we need to do to make it happen.
