watched a few minutes of denver the other night and am still having nightmares about it. how has aaron gordon improved again?! we need our aaron gordon trade to really take the leap in the luka era. right now, we're jokic/murray pre-gordon/kcp. we need those types of pickups (i think this is similar to what svtzr was saying elsewhere). but watching denver just dismantle the steph-less warriors (in fairness, that's not that hard) just confirmed for me the gap between us and den/okc. i think we can play against pretty much anyone else and have a shot at winning a series. but not those teams. not right now.
GSW got waxed by OKC tonight: afraid the Warriors didn't make OKC run enough to tire 'em for our BTB w/them, but you can't have it all. Draymond was 3/2/4 in 22 mins and afterward told the press the team isn't interested in winning. Earlier in the day he was on a podcast and defended Nico in a sort of deranged argument, but basically he went on for 7 mins defending Nico because we haven't seen Kyrie playing with those guys.
lol, i wouldn't say i was defending nico yesterday, but i do think that AD and kyrie both being hurt for basically the whole time since the trade made it impossible to really evaluate his vision. i still think it was the wrong choice even if dallas was good and healthy, but it's made to look even worse because they've had all the injuries (lively/gafford in addition to those two).
So happy DLO is not our problem anymore. Also, wish Sochan would just smack donkey across that fugly mug.
These f***ing guys... No fan pays for the tickets to see them run wild. Tony Brothers should be retired for years now tbh.
I hate to say it, but only a couple of serious injuries is keeping OKC from repeating. I've been watching these guys. They're a friggin' machine. One of the best teams I've ever seen, and, as painful as it is to admit, they could go 74-8, or better. What's really sick is they're so damned young. So, no one is supposed to say it. I'm not supposed to say it, but this season feels like a wash because they're so damned good, and...here it comes: SGA needs to get injured around early March for 2025-2026 to be anything but a foregone conclusion. Hell: even if he blows out a knee or something, they could still roll all the way through into June and win again. It's just ridiculous. I watched them go up 24 or something to GSW a couple weeks ago. Then they relaxed, GSW stormed back and took a lead in the 4th. You could see OKC's body language as a team: okay, we shouldn't have let them back in, so: let's just stop this right now: they went on a 14-4 run to end it. I remember the 1987 Lakers, who were like that. Who's gonna stop this team of wunderkinds? I don't see anyone. I really want someone to disagree with me here and give a good argument. Please?
Are you saying all the rough and tough “ring is the only thing” dudes around here …. should skip watching this season and look for something … anything … else to salvage their self images?
No, and I doubt that's possible, because we're all strung out on the Lakers, and the essence of being a fan is the idea, the hope, that hey: maybe somehow we'll figure out a way to beat OKC (or a few other teams who are defensively better than we are now) and get a RING! And tie the damned Bags at 18. Otherwise, it's just not fun. You gotta have hope. And rarely would I write something like I did about OKC above, but it just seems to me glaringly obvious how damned good they are. It's daunting. That's all I wanted to point out. I still hold onto - grasp at - some idea that we can overcome these freaks that are OKC. And I watch them and they make we wonder how much I constantly fool myself that we can beat them. That anyone could beat them in a 7 game series. But still... Clearly, if our D doesn't improve: forget it.
basically the same team was going to lose to indiana in the finals last year until haliburton went down. they're beatable. i think they should try to avoid jokic, as i think he can beat them with his supporting cast this time. oh yeah. again, denver has a several-year head start on us in terms of team-building around an all-time great offensive player who is exploitable on defense. but teams do and should fear us because we have luka. when you have a player about whom absolutely nothing can be done on defense, you have a chance.
