That would be disastrous. If Lebron is not the 2nd best player on this team this year, the Lakers will not win the title.

He isn't but they will. We have MVP Austin. LeBron just needs to play his role. Defend, rebound and pass. Good to see him be legitimately happy for Rui. Austin's team ball is rubbing off on him. Nice work LJ.

I was going to come up here and tear him a new one, but he passed to Rui. So... gets a pass for me, but that was a rough rough night of basketball for Bron.

Offense isn't there nor is the lift. BUT he's ancient and has never missed a training camp, pre season and start to the season. If he still looks washed middle of next month, then it's a different conversation. But regardless of that, he's not the first or second option on this team. He is third, maybe a 2b to Austin's 2a if he gets back to last season Bron but he's going to be more the rebounder, right-play maker, and on the court coordinator than scorer on this iteration of this team.

Also think he got a poor whistle this game that could've easily swung his night to an 17-18 point game.

Glad the storyline is over. Glad he made the right play to kill the storyline of what's more important.

This is a guy who doesn't give a damn about 10 points.

Some crazy stats about last time this happened though

I wonder how much of LeBron's bad play and the realization that he might not be the player he once was will affect the Giannis discussions if it includes Reaves.

If LeBron isn't the same player he once was, then it makes more sense for the Lakers to keep Reaves and try to build around Luka+Reaves because a Luka+Giannis+LeBron team might not get it done and then you end up giving what I believe is a top 15 player in the league right now, Reaves.

absolutely shocked he didn't try to extend the streak at the end there

but maybe him deciding to pass there was the moment he truly realized that he's no longer a superstar talent. if this was last season, he probably tries to tie the game himself and extend it

Lol..Lebron has looked semi washed at times, early in every season he's been a Laker. I didn't watch enough of him in Cleveland, to know if that's just how he ramps up or not. It has absolutely been the case, for his tenure in LA tho. He looks spry and springy one game, then a couple of games later, he looks slow with no lift.

The Father Time is finally catching up to him, narrative might actually one day be true, but I'm not sure this season is the one. He's usually up to speed by mid January.

Lakers are fine with Luka and Reaves . They need defensive players AND a coach who values defense around them

LeBron tends to make the correct basketball play.

I think he has enough left in the tank to help us. Even on a rough shooting night he still made plays for us tonight. But the decline is there and it’s just the reality of being older.

    NO.

AR’s getting tons of love and deserves every bit. I’d bet even some fans here might change their vote now, after seeing this year’s version of HIM, in that poll I ran in the summer of who is/was more fun to watch AR or Nick.

    :Fishwink:

And good gawd who was the one person …. one of our solid posters no less …. that said he didn’t (even) find AR’s game enjoyable to watch (something to that effect).

One of the greatest streaks in NBA history ends because the dude chose to pass for a gamewinner and this is what some people focus on is just pure hate

the reference is to the media coverage, and it's accurate. espn's front page earlier today was two separate segments about lebron. you'd have to dig to find out a) the lakers won a game b) it was on a three at the buzzer by someone else and c) that the team was carried by a monster reaves game.

whether you think that's the way it should be or not, the meme is accurately depicting the coverage.
