I don't know if he can keep this up they need this Lebron on defense and the glass. Only chance they got in this series

Wasn't perfect due to the 3 point shot being broke after the groin injury. Real shame as he was shooting it so well. But this version of the Lakers don't have anyone who can switch onto any Twolves and be an off ball helper (not even Vando can do this due to the strength/mass that Minny brings)

He’s expending a ton of his effort on D, you can see he’s tired as hell, all is shots late were short. But we need that from him, so Reaves, Rui, others have to make more shots, pick up the scoring.

What's the most the Lakers will have in cap space if LeBron takes a steep discount? Let's say they win the title or are close to it and LeBron decides to take $30 million to compete for a title. What opens up for them?

LeBron's great but you can tell he's lost a step. Also, with Luka being on the team, the 'need' for LeBron kinda becomes redundant at times since they have the same skillset. Obviously great to have them both but LeBron isn't the best fit with Luka. Lakers are going to have to supplement and try to find more talent at the other positions.

Yeah, but they had a week break. I remember Richard Jefferson saying that for the older players, rest is the worst thing because you're too used to playing lots of basketball in a short period of time that your body stays adjusted to that.

It could be he's still hurt as well. He hasn't exactly played the best since returning.

Yeah I'm confused about people posting about Lebron. He was all over the place on D. Lakers needed that and that cost him a ton of gas.

Luckily lot of time between the games

I think at most if Bron takes a big cut we can have the MLE to use, something like that. It’s not much, our payroll is so high Bron taking less doesn’t do much. Hell I think even if LeBron opted out and walked away it wouldn’t even free up that much money because our team salary is so high.

To be fair, he’s 40 in year 22, and he’s played 3 1/2 seasons worth of games in the playoffs (288 games). Nobody has ever done what he’s doing right now, it’s insane, the wheels are bound to fall off at some point. He could still be hurting for sure, but I’d guess it’s some combo of that and just plain old age fatigue.

Defense was great. Think the groin is bothering him. Austin out there trying to kill him on those lob attempts.

    HUGE sequence from him.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Sucks. LeBron is 'good' enough to be a max player but with Luka, he's not as important of a player with that skillset than when we had AD instead of Luka.

Definitely starting to regret not taking that Mark Williams trade. Hopefully something opens up in the offseason but Hayes has been... a 3rd string center at best who was overhyped because the alternative to him on the team is non-existent.

He got the numbers, but he was really off today it seemed, at least offensively. I was yelling at my tv so much with all the gimmies he missed, bad AR lob pass. I was waiting for that massive backbreaking play by him or Luka to call “game”, but it just didn’t happen. A win is a win though i guess.

Had some nice defensive plays down the stretch though to keep the lead in tact.

What we’ll have to hope is that because Luka is here now and we’re a legit team again that some players will join for less again. Just like players like Trent Jr and Tyus Jones passed on us, we’ll have to hope players like that decide to come here for the minimum or close to it for a chance to win. I don’t think there’s really a big out there that is good enough to help yet not worth much more than that willing to come here, but players of other positions could come here to fill the spots taken by Morris, Len, and Shake right now to add to our depth.

IDK, you don't really see vets taking less to sign with teams as often as you used to because the money difference compared to vet minimum is massive. It was less so the case when veteran role players were getting $7 million per season so the discount is $5 million but nowadays, the difference can be $10-15 million for solid veteran role players.

If Brook Lopez is willing to come back, that'd be great.

Jonas V. is $10 million per year. Would they take Maxi and a couple 2nds?

I'm not a fan of Ayton but he's on a final contract year, Blazers don't seem that interested in keeping him, and he's still young and decent. Would they take Vincent, Maxi, Vanderbilt, and some seconds?

I thought the steal and tough layup in traffic was the play that called the game for the Lakers

He was solid defensively, but I'm still hoping for that easy scoring flow he had before the break (and maybe slight groin tweak). Especially on his long ball, we need that one desperately to just add some space offensively.
