Some guys just take longer as opposed to being busts .... there's an in between that and NBA ready late teens/early twenties.

These late season numbers on Flagg hunting teams are always a bit skewed. He has all the physical tools. But for us he was years away from being years away. Just didn't fit the goal.

I wish we could rent out some of these guys to the bottom feeding teams for two years but then their rights revert back to us. That gives them the chance to get real NBA reps with zero stakes and then we can actually use them in a NBA game. Same thing for Lil Pip.

right; i just got tired of everyone writing these guys off completely when they barely got any opportunities. especially jhs, who got it worse because he was a first rounder.

yeah, you don't get it both ways. you've seen the struggles with trying to get knecht real nba reps while also trying to win games. and he was supposed to be "nba ready". lewis and jhs were not.

it's a shame the g league hasn't quite been able to serve as the developmental league the nba envisioned. it's just so hard to simulate the speed of the game, i think. and even though the g league is much different than college, it's still so far off from the big league as to almost seem like a different sport at times.

all that said, it does kind of suck for some of these bad teams, as they do end up serving as "farm teams" for the contenders in some ways. how many teams tried to work with derrick jones jr before the mavs and clips got to just pluck the optimized version?

this is part of why i was so intent on pursuing guys like sharpe over the past year (and why i was jazzed about the williams trade)--they got to develop somewhere else, and we can just step in and benefit when they're ready to go!
