    it's quite simple.

at the moment, his contract means that you're not getting an equal value in return.

his next contact, which is going to be in the vicinity of 35 per, also means that you're not gonna get equal value in return, because he is, still, underrated by other teams and they gonna offer the likes of Williams (just healthy).

But if you have a suggestion on a center, making AR's next money, with all the intangibles... again, do tell.

    Huh?
Jaxson Hayes is not a hard replacement in the off-season but since we're past the trade deadline and FA on this current roster he's completely unique due to the AD trade, Williams falling through, Alex Len moving like he's in molasses, and Jemison barely able to get off the ground

This isn't that hard it's not a player comparison as AR is clearly a better player but do due to roster quirks if you lose Hayes the Lakers simply have no replacement for his vertical threat off the PnR. For example you can pick a completely trash player like current DeAndre Jordan and if he was on the Lakers than Hayes wouldn't be unique. But the Lakers simply don't have anyone with that skill set currently. Hayes value is much higher for the Lakers than his talent alone would provide normally because of this.

Curious, who is this Jaxson replacement you are mentioning? I haven't been watching enough games lately and I'm wondering how many cheap, young, high-flying centers with quick feet are out there.

As for Austin, he is irreplaceable. You can't have enough playmakers. Two allows us to exploit mismatches. Three makes us unguardable.

I am obviously taking about AR.

    This is you:

Or did you not intend to say that AR can be replace not with a center, which you believe we need, but just with something? that's even worse.

You actually can. First, like his post. Then, unlike it. If you repeat this nine times -- the goal is accomplished.

Huh? Austin Reaves is NOT replaceable. We are not a championship team without him.

Umm I'm simply saying that what AR brings to the table at close to an elite level in shot creation and playmaking. The Lakers have two guys who do that at a very high level. This is being taken as saying AR is not a critical part of the team which is simply not want I'm saying. Basketball is a 5 man sport so you need multiple good players who the .ore skills they have the better

If AR misses a series the Lakers chance of winning clearly go down significantly as he's the Lakers third best players. However it not because the Lakers don't have guys who can score off the dribble and playmaker it's because they're overall talent dropped. OTOH Hayes brings a skill set no one else on this roster has. You lose him and you lose the vertical lob threat off the PNR basically completely

we have seen what it looks without AR.

If given a choice who to be without for a game, I am choosing Jax every day and twice on Shabbat.

    Oh great
Hayes (knee) has been listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the C Bags, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Trey will be vs Porzingis and Horford :Addrinking:

Great now you lose both Hayes and Rui - that's a lot of rim pressure gone sigh. Both the lob threat and Rui cutting are so useful

Hayes seems as fragile as AD constantly getting some ticky tack injuries

Now this likely means Alex Len gets some action. Ugh.

lol at anyone thinking taking out the only guy who adds a critical part of your offense isn't a big deal.

All freakin iso with no rim pessure

I totally get where you’re coming from with the importance of a lob threat and I agree with you that Hayes is critical for us.

But there’s lots of ways to skin a cat, clearly Luka couldn’t get past his defender very easily tonight. In the first quarter when he was getting around them we had a lot of open shots. When he started attacking the basket in the fourth again we went on like a 20-4 run.

Reaves is also struggling at the moment and that’s tough because he generates lots of good looks himself.

Lastly having Rui out is also tough because he finishes so many of the open shots we get and he attacks close outs well.
