This was a rare trade where I am happy either way. I thought lakeshow gave a little too much and I like Knecht and how he fits in the squad. But I also like Williams advanced stats at such a young age. I’m happy to get Knecht back and our pick/swap based on this new info

the fact that williams wasn't really discussed as a trade option and suddenly you have the hornets calling pelinka making him available should've been a major red flag

As many, I was excited about this trade because he really was an almost perfect profile of what we needed... in theory at least.

He is a lob threat, a very big presence and even a very young guy still. His defensive IQ is still kinda iffy, but I think it was something we could live with (lets be real, we're never replacing a guy like AD inside).

But, just as many, injuries the main problem. In that sense, I'm glad we're likely dodging a bullet here, because he really is no use if he's not playing, even if he has all the talent in the world. We went through Andrew Bynum once... amazing talent and a luxury when available, but truth is that save for one year we barely had Bynum available and when he was it was usually under minutes restriction and not at 100%.

Knecht is an amazing rookie. Admittedly, not with much of a rookie age, but still a young guy who can become a very solid scorer in this league.

Only shame about this is that this kind of scenario obviously hurts player morale... hopefully it won't be too much.

All of that said, while he never really got to be a Laker, I wish Mark Williams the best of luck. He's a great talent.

We really do have a history of bringing Hornets players for just a couple hours, don't we?

i mean, i'm sure pelinka thought harrison was messing with him at first when he mentioned wanting to move luka. probably took a lot of convincing that he was being for real

luka also doesn't have a history of back problems like williams does

I think Williams just had a bone bruise somewhere on his back/spine. Those take lots of time depending on severity, much as we continue to hate Nunn for his. But not a "history" of back problems from what the Dr. dude on LG said.

Maybe Charlotte will make up for it, and send us Diabate and a couple of 2nds,for Dalton this summer. That's a fair deal.

Charlotte as an organization comes off as a backwoods car salesman.

Was that your impression when Mitch was the GM too or more so since he hasn’t been?

No, that’s what I meant. Did you have that opinion of them too when Mitch was the GM? I think he just consults now from conversation here.

The one that that scared me in his highlight reels is that he moves and jumps a lot like Bynum. Not like a fluid athlete, but like a newborn deer. I thought it was a bit of a necessary overpay to go for it now, so I was ok with the trade, but I’m also ok with it being rescinded if it was likely going to go bad in the end. The worst part is not losing Williams, it’s that the deadline has passed and we can’t pivot to another player, like we can’t call back on Sharpe or whatever. But, yeah, just have to revisit bigs in the summer, screw Charlotte for trying to pawn off damaged good for an unprotected first, Dalton, and a pick swap though.

Nah. Kupchak didn't give that hoodwinky vibe. He was jut...uuhh...there. TBH, I never paid attention to the Hornets.

Really curious as to what that physical showed.

Irwin on his show last night said that those around the league thought it was back or foot. He's heard it's neither.

i think there are probably legal reasons why we won't know exactly what was found.

but time will tell us, right? if our medical staff is right, whatever it is will show up.
