Here's some guy who watched every Hornets game like for last 5 years.
Mark – is the coolest center and one of my favorite players.
There is one BUT. These are injuries. Mark no longer plays back-to-back, overall missed a lot. and didn't play more than 27 minutes in recent games, but nobody knows that because Charlotte didn't care or that load management. He has much higher ceiling than Nick Richards who already makes big impact for Suns.

AD is AD that’s the first thing. Mark Williams effort was poor on some of those plays, but some of those were actually good contested. A few of those plays when he went to help the Charlotte help defense was poor. I don’t see that being an issue here because of help defense has been pretty good even without Davis.

not being able to guard anthony davis in isolation is literally everyone's problem. ask 4-time dpoy rudy gobert about it.

Seems at only 23 and a nicely filled out upper body so far Mark if he put the time into the weight room could add another 10-15 lbs in his upper legs/legs period/back pocket by the time he hits his early prime. I can't believe we got an athletic 7'2" legit starting center with a 2" taller standing reach than Victor Wembanyama, and who's already put up big numbers against some established Big centers ..... at this point in time with our franchise just landing Luka, and sorely needing it for the Wemby era building in SA and new crop of Big men in the league.

if he can stay healthy, this was a major get, imo.

i'm not even sure he has to develop much more physically for it to qualify as such, either. as he gets more experience, he'll get better defensively (and he's already pretty good, tbh).

It is why you have to play these kids and develop them. Something that some of our coaches never did.

It's just when I see those long, long thin legs on the light 7 footers I'm always thinking "snap".

yeah, but lots of the guys in his mold have been able to play anyway. tyson chandler and marcus camby always had skinny legs.

Williams is almost at 18ppg right now. Imagine playing with Luka and bron. He's a good team defender. Not great 1v1. He's a great rebounder.
Guys like lebron and Luka are even greater when they have elite rebounders.

Well, now that we traded AD every media pundit will start pointing out that he is the best two way player in the league.

I’ll trust Rob on this. Being on a team that’s tanking versus a team with championship aspirations, makes a big difference. Plus the Hornets didn’t have Luka and Bron.

After the sting of losing Dalton has worn off a bit, I understand we had to do something. I’m sure LeBron was in Rob’s ear about really going for it this year and I don’t blame him.
I will reserve my judgment on this trade further until the big guy has played with us for 15 games or so.

    Good point.
Also, if JJ has been able to counter not having a defensive anchor in there these last couple of games with his excellent game plans, then he surely will be able to figure it out with Big Willie.

I’m not worried about AD cooking him. AD cooks everyone - it’s how we got Luka for so little, AD is just that guy.
