I imagine the truths were around the front office and how much belief they really had in them for the last few seasons. It's like, I completely get going all in for Luka and can't criticize them for that. On the other hand, I can't help but wonder what happens if we go all in like this in past seasons particularly with getting AD a big guy.

Full speed ahead with the current group though. I like the team we have put together and the front office gets kudos for the work they have done. There are questions with health for Williams, but this team looks good on paper and should be ready to compete.

I wonder if they talked about the WB trade and that uncomfortable truth? :).

They have been one of the best in the League at picking out young talent for sure!

Yes, and some of the screens I've seen Williams set have been solid. It was the old days, but I watched Bill Walton play and that guy always found a way to rock someone on a screen, whether it was an elbow to the head or something. I know we can't do that now, but it did look like some of his screens are jarring. A good screener is going to get called once in a while, but you want the other team thinking about your screens.

And what we see now is only the beginning. With JJ's hustling, aggressive defensive schemes Williams is going to become a true monster. Anyone that wants to play defense can play defense and this guy wants to.

that is good info from LG. you see a really big guy and hear foot and back and you get nervous. i'm not not nervous, but this is actually better than i was thinking.

    Nice sharing.
In tanking teams it's hard to guess the extent of injuries. If you sneeze you're out with an illness.
Thing is, if he's healthy, why would Charlotte trade him? He's part of their young core and they have no one in their roster that can cover him. Also takes them back a couple years as they'll some new young center they find or draft to develop.

It's really weird that we get 2 young guys, part of the core and future of their teams, both cheaper than expected.
Either there's something wrong with each of them, or this is the league coordinating these trades to create new narratives and respond to the ratings fall.

Opening a roster spot added benefit as well. Rob is thinking things through before doing them.

hmmm...my money was on the idea that their skillsets weren't as complementary as they both aged. they both felt like they needed to play the 4. i think rob's known that for a while, and i'm also not sure we could have reversed the order of these trades, if that makes sense...

i'll be curious to see. screen-setting is a lost art and is useful from every spot on the floor. steven adams is a good example of the fact that you can be really limited in terms of basketball skill and contribute to an effective offense by setting good screens.

i'm still wrestling with the reasoning on the luka trade, but i'm wondering here if charlotte just thinks knecht has star power and they're worried about being forced into overpaying williams before they're ready to compete for the playoffs? knecht buys them a couple years of evaluation, plus future picks. same logic for why ainge was considering moving kessler, imo.

They should. Completely ruined their potential dynasty. Things play out so much differently without that move.

I get that they may love Knecht, kid is good. He's probably averaging 20ppg there in no time. But then it makes no sense to trade Richards a couple weeks ago. They're a small market, paying 30ish to Williams would be fine and build around their Ball, Miller, Bridges, Williams core.
It's not adding up for me, tbh

Then Fox to the Spurs for no core players was weird too. Suddenly we have 2 powerhouses being built around Wemby and Luka with OKC there too with Shai. NBA is set for a decade

I've never heard of Mark Williams but he looks like the big that we needed, which makes me feel a little better about trading away Ludabrow but that begs the question, why didn't we do this sooner?

Regardless we're set up to compete now and in the future.

The Nico connection is huge here and the type of relationship most of us were hoping he could build.

I think some of them, like Ainge, overplayed their hands. They thought they could take advantage of him and he wisely used that against them to get a deal done.

He is. I have no issues with the front offices thinking here.

Yeah, I get it and am genuinely not trying to knock their thinking here. I mean, they have access to all the information and clearly had some things in mind for pivoting away from the two of them.

Don’t let him ever meet Nunn. His foot might fall off.
