AD should be considered top 5, oddly enough people including myself call AD mr glass when he's actually played more gms than Luka past 3yrs or so
You mean like having played 93% of all the games at center the last 2 seasons at 6'10" 250lbs .... you were calling him soft and Mr glass still? Oddly enough indeed.
I love AD, but he’s not on Luka’s level if both players are healthy. We’ve seen Luka already lead a team to the Finals and to a WCF. AD has not yet proven he can lead a team in that way. We’ll see if he can lead a team as the top dog in Dallas.
Dallas didn’t get Kobe in a trade terms ago, but now settle for his son in the Doncic trade. Crazy stuff.
I clicked on the Maxi thread instead of the Max thread and it made me sad. I always believed in you Max even when you were struggling. You will be missed. Take care in Dallas and maybe one day you will find your way back to the Lakers.
hate losing him, but you do it 10/10 times for luka christie's a stud and wouldn't be surprised if he becomes an all star caliber player one day
No I was making a point of using your words, "oddly enough" for all your soft blasts in spite of AD being an iron man the last 2 1/2 seasons at 93% of games played DESPITE being only 6'10' 250lbs having to handle the bigger, stronger centers in the league and banging around the basket doing that on defense and offense .... and which allowed him to be the monster rebounder he IS. Soft is ridiculous being applied to AD by all the injury and pain impervious arm chair "tough guys" here. LOL.
I would give up five Max Christie’s to get Luka. He can be replaced. Luka can become one of the All Time greats if he can stay healthy and Rob wisely builds around him.
AD was the primary reason we won a championship. He was unreal against Denver - the difference maker. How quickly some forget. Luka is a great young talent and player but he hasn't won anything of consequence so far. Again these statements that Luka is so much better of a player than AD just don't hold water to me. It's two very different players with different strengths. When healthy AD is the best two player in the league. I don't see how that's debatable at this point. He gives you 26 and 11 and plays ELITE, DPOY level defense. Luka is a more dynamic and exciting offensive player and one of the very best passers in the league. But his D leaves a LOT to be desired. Many folks keep parroting this quote about Luka being a "generational player" as if AD isn't. Some folks are saying Luka is a top 3 player in the league. Not in my book this year. I have Jokic, SGA, Giannis, and Wemby above him this year and actually AD as well who has put in some incredible performances. Maybe last year Luka was top 3. I think people will miss what AD brought much more than are thinking now. It's going to be very difficult to replicate what he brought. But I get it - Luka is very magnetic, capable of some breathtaking performances (not that AD isn't), and he's young and will be easier to build around than AD. No doubt that's true. And the Lakers have always been about the biggest, brightest superstars. Luka has more "IT" quality than AD certainly. I'm just not as big a fan of his as AD.
Not sure why is it so hard for some to understand the reservations some others have... ----------- We are going to suck this year and the next. Not sure what basketball people are watching. It must be that 5 - 1 without AD stat that gets everyone, um, excited and makes them forget years of no-AD minutes being just the worst. This is the point I (and I think LJ and others) are making. There is no C available who can replace even 30% of AD defense and offense. None. Or if there is one I didn't think about, it would take AR and more to get that center. So, our best case scenario is: Gabe/Shake Luka/DK/Cam DFS/Vando/DK Bron//Rui/Vando 0.3*AD/Jax/Koloko/Jenna's son or AR Luka DFS/Vando Bron Jax Yeah... that's going to suck. Might be entertaining for some people, but to me it has LAL 2014 vibes. Also... I can already see a season-ending "injury" for Bron coming up. -------- And so... if you accept the above premise, the first time we can actually build around Luka would be in 2026 - 2027 season, when Bron comes off the books. By then Luka will be almost 28. So, no, you didn't trade a 32 yo AD for 25 yo Luka. You traded: a 32 yo AD and an up and coming 3&D 22 yo guard who kept getting better each game for 2 years of sufferring and 28 yo Luka I personally am not young enough to just be OK with 2 years of suckage while watching Luka getting stats. Perhaps some of you are. ------- Now, if you disagree with the premise, we can discuss it and may be I learn something, but I hope you get the point.
