They just got depth at the deadline, not sure they can afford to move it for Kanter. Either way, the franchise is taking a step backwards. I was wondering what Portland was going to do with all their money.
Good for him. Now I expect people to bash the hell out of Dallas for this move. This is 20 million more than what Kobe got!
Mathews is getting 70 mio. after such a serious injury? seriously though...the NBA is in danger of losing sight. I remember all the fights during the last CBA agreement....now everything has gone way beyond control.
Yeah, it's pretty funny. The last lockout and big CBA deal fight has so much talk of all these ridiculous contracts that had been given out, all these insane amounts of money being thrown at good players, let alone the great ones. CBA was supposed to change that, now a few years later we're right back where we were, teams giving max deals to 2nd tier guys, maybe 3rd tier PLUS coming off that injury in the case of Matthews. Maybe not EVEN 3rd tier in Reggie Jackson and some others. I don't get the logic behind that at all, "well we didn't get DJ, so here's an extra 13 mil for the hell of it, Wes". Aside from that, Brook Lopez for 20 mil per. Robin Lopez and an aging Chandler for 13 mil per to name a few. Come on now.
Well, Cuban is honoring a deal. Matthews took less than he was seeking and agreed to that amount because DJ was coming and that's all that was left. That changed and there was no reason for him to not get what he wanted. Cuban also gave him the chance to renege on his deal. To me that's a loyalty reward. If he's 100%, that won't be a bad deal when the cap spikes. I'm not saying I agree with the amount, I think it's high but not nearly as bad as Reggie Jackson's deal. But I get why Cuban is bumping it to what he wanted.
