Pretty impressive for a failed Ball bro. 8-13 million...guess he's a success now!

How could any other NBA team not see him as a cancer now? I mean seriously? A separate jet?

Tell me, Jimmy, using this little rag doll, where all the bad Heat players touched you.

ALL of Thomas Pynchon's characters - and there's about 3000 of 'em - have weird-azzed names. I resonated with the character of Zoyd. I wish I did not resonate. But I did.

he has a 52 million player option, and at this point, he'll have to exercise it and be stuck. Unless he thinks he can sell craptons of coffee, that's his last big payday. Too bad. Seemed like a fun guy to root for, but it's not acceptable to be a bad teammate or bad influence on team culture.

Does he have a no trade clause that he can change his mind now and do the opt in with Miami or does that go with him to whatever team Riley trades him to?

he doesn't have a no trade clause, but if a team trades for him and he let's them know he won't be exercising his option or extending with them, he holds some leverage unless the team is just absolutely tanking and blowing up their roster. Miami will expect some value, but it will probably require multiple teams to make salaries work. He's created a big mess for himself and has just cost himself 10's of millions IMHO of course.

i posted about it a few days ago, but it really is pretty damning for an organization that is touted (and participates in this) for having a better culture than everyone else. i wonder if their mystique will die with riley like ours did with dr. buss. and if riley's finally been passed by. the failure to close several deals with players demanding to go to miami, followed by this mess...

will say that watching miami get destroyed by a trade demand is pretty enjoyable after years, maybe decades of them being the winners in many of these situations (and the losers in none). at least we had to deal with the shaq thing (to miami, no less!).

anyway, the media still isn't blasting miami for this, so maybe the brand will survive. and who knows, maybe someone bails riley out here, but there have to be at least some teams who will refuse to help on principle (as happens with us all the time).

hilarious that butler's PO cuts both ways, as sirron said above:

to teams who would trade for a 50 million expiring: nope, i'll opt in.

to teams hoping to get one and half years of contention: nope; i'll opt out.

Did Pat promised to trade him to "Cherkasy Apes" it's actual team in Ukraine or even worse to Gulag ?
    Last week

Jimmy Butler, in a personal meeting with Pat Riley, demanded a trade and said that he would not sign a new contract with Miami
Jimmy Butler reiterated the demand for trade in a personal meeting with the club president Pat Riley last week he repeated that he wanted to be traded , reports ESPN insider Shams Charania.

Butler told Riley that he would not sign a new contract with «Miami » and intended to use the 2025/26 season renewal option worth $ 52 million only as a maneuver for trade

yeah, jimmy's really got them by the balls because they don't have a way to get leverage via salary dumps. if he just walks in FA, even if they use the partial guarantee on robinson, they have no space. even if they move rozier for expirings, the space they gain can't replace jimmy's on-court value, even at age 35.

has anyone leaked the details of the failed contract negotiations? i'm fascinated by what miami offered as an extension (i'm sure they had a number/years in mind). similar to the ingram/NO situation. i feel like we don't have the real story there, either. and maybe we never get it in either case, but that's the reason for both situations--team and player were far apart on what it would take to continue the relationship.

Duly noted: After CLE beat OKC in CLE a couple weeks ago in some of the best basketball you'll ever see, today CLE went into OKC and OKC blew them out from the opening tip. They won the 1st Q by 18, the 2nd by 8, the 3rd by 12...were up, IIRC, 38 at one point: against Cleveland! The 4th was sheer garbage time.

Realize: Hartenstein was out. And OKC is doing all this w/o Chet. Jeez.

Man. These two teams. I don't see the Bags or Clips beating either one. But the season't barely halfway through.

    Both teams are now 34-6.

After Chet went out, Hartenstein was out for awhile there too, and they still kicked everyone's azz. Without at big, really.

That's kinda nuts. Cavs had a bad night, but still: getting creamed from the opening tip? To a team that has no big, really?

The thing about OKC is their communication with each other on Defense. That's their thing to me. It's really awesome. I don't get to hear court-level stuff; I'm only watching what looks like good communication to me, the way teammates react, to switches, screens, etc.

SGA had 40 and sat out the 4th. There's that, too.

OKC 39-19 against the Nets in Q1. We're not a serious team

We didn’t have our whole team for one thing. Jeeze. Sure they’re better but let’s be fair. AD out was huge in THAT regard and still no Vando or Wood.
