He was a fantastic get. Just the type of player we needed. Problem is he isn't the only need. But yeah, I love what I've seen from him. Right place at the right time all game long. He doesn't have some of that foot speed he had to chase around the quicker guards like he did 4(ish) years ago, but on this team he shouldn't be the one on those guys anyway. 3 ball looks good. The no hesitation drives have been successful. He's not a very good rebounder, but unlike Rui, he's ELITE at boxing out. A lot of his stuff doesn't show up on the box score. You have to watch the game to see the intangibles. It was funny/frustrating seeing the social media trolls "dunking" on the trade when DLO had a big game right out of the gate for the Nets. Typical box score watching kind of nonsense. I do think he's got to move into the starting group sooner than later. Losing the Texas trip in the manner in which we did should give JJ enough justification to do it. I know why he couldn't do it right out of the gates. Rui at that time hadn't done anything to lose the spot and DFS had to come in and earn in. Needed to be evident that the team and lineups make more sense with the switch. If he's going to give Rui type numbers as a 5th option/clean up guy and Rui is going to ignore the glass, it's a wrap.
Starting spot or not, I'd at least be giving him more minutes than Rui going forward until proven otherwise. He deserves it.
I imagine he’s exhausted from having to cover for Reaves, Hayes, and some others, maybe he needs a mental health day to cope with the realization of how he left a tanking team and the effort got WORSE
Finney-Smith is expected to miss Wednesday's contest to welcome his new baby boy, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.
Congrats! Hopefully JJ's baby shower gift is making Dorian the starter moving forward. Quick highlight from a lowlight game You can't teach the awareness. He can read and is aware of what he's seeing defensively not only for himself but teammates. That's what makes him a playoff starter.
Agreed. I'm happy with the move and still think it was the right call. We need more but he's shown me enough right off the bat to make me feel good about the trade.
He needs to start. i hope they make the switch tomorrow against boston because we need him and Christie to be switching off of Jaylen and Tatum to start out..... Rui will get worked and so wil LeBron...
