Oh no. Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely a Bass Man ( :giggle: ), I'm just saying we now have a VERY imbalanced roster. Lou Williams and I suppose Kobe in spot minutes, will be our only 2 guards with over ONE YEAR experience. I like a big man rotation of Hibbert/Black and Randle/Bass with Upshaw getting some spot minutes learning the ropes. But right now Kelly and Sacre are completely dead weight. Nance can play some at the 3, but if we do that, we now have 4 sfs instead of pfs. I can actually see them getting cut at this point, especially Sacre if Upshaw crushes in Summer League.

I'm not counting on the Upshaw egg to hatch. Sacre is decent Upshaw insurance as a 3rd string Center. Once Upshaw is ready to actually go, then we can talk about keeping him around. As of right now, he's a recovering addict and a guy in desperate need to get his life in order. I believe in him, but I also don't want to get ahead of myself.

I'd think we can dump Kelly somewhere.

Hm... Should I take the LA trade and get 2nd round picks while just signing Ellis outright? Or should I sign and trade for Ellis for the same amount of cash and no picks?...

    Rough one.

this guy is a fraud. also said kobe was going ring chasing at the end of the season since he was so upset with the lakers.

claims to be media member with NBA (I mean so am I, you just fill out a form on their media site) and the website he posts on is his own that is all made up 'sources' crap. He's reported about 10 different things that literally no one else has reported or picked up that still have yet to come to any fruition.

He posts a bunch of legit details like what you posted as well as 'breaking news' just after Woj or Stein confirm it to keep people interested.

Wouldn't the Pacers get a monster trade Exception from trading Hibbert to us for nothing?

He was informed he was traded to the Lakers days ago. This deal is still happening, the Mavs are just desperately trying to inject themselves into a closed situation.

They should just go after Jordan Hill. Why hasn't anyone talked to him yet?

Actually, we don't know if the Mavs are trying to do that. I think this might just be media members hypothesizing because it makes some sense (if Bird and Cuban are as big of scumbags as the Clippers). I think it's more about getting page hits for some of these people.

Yeah I'm really surprised Hill isn't connected to a team yet. Makes me wonder if a sign and trade is coming, or if he is waiting to see if the Hibbert trade happens so he can stay in LA.

Yep. Then they fit Ellis into the cap space. They end up with the same cash amount either way, but with us they get 2nd rounders and with the Mavs they get... nothing. Ellis is an UFA. He's already decided to go to Indy. It's over. Media personnel and Cuban are trying to make this into a thing, but it's not.

Best case scenario is we each do Cuban a favor if he gives us some assets and he gets Jordan Hill and guys we're ready to walk away from.
I think it's probably both. If I'm Cuban I at least make the call to both the Lakers and the Pacers and see if I can work my way into the deal and get SOMETHING back for Ellis. If not, oh well at least I tried.

Yeah probably. He'll choose between Mavs and Lakers whoever doesn't get Hibbert. So he'll be a Maverick probably later today.

Maybe we do a 3-way deal where Hill goes to the Mavs, Ellis to the Pacers, Hibbert to us? Although I don't really see the point inthat since Cuban can just sign Hill outright.

I know contracts can't be renegotiated down, but could Cuban do the right thing and tear up Dirk's contract to give him a 10 million dollar raise for this next season? He has to spend the money somewhere just to get to the cap floor and Dirk taking that massive paycut proved disastrous. I think the NBAPA would allow that, and I think Cuban would probably do it.

Dirk has a player option. If Cuban wanted to do that Dirk could opt out and get a new deal.

Plus Dirk took that pay cut before last season on his own accord. He'll have his cushy front office job once he retires and is ready for it.
