problem is knecht is in the same boat. hard to solve that for me, as i like the idea of gabe and another defender at sf (vando) with our big(ish) three, but if knecht is going to be useless off the bench, you're squandering a weapon.

no easy solutions with this team, mostly because none of our top three players are fast. add gabe and dalton, and you have zero speed in that lineup. lots of good things, but no speed. and teams can kill that.

 

Yeah, he appears to only be good as a starter, next to other starters. Just don't think that's his role in the NBA on a healthy team.

Dalton and Austin are better, can't start all 3 due to height and limited athleticism. Ham would have started him at either PF or C.

 

i like his chances defending the low post more than hayes, wood, or koloko's, lol.

The Lakers have been in desperate need of anyone who can bring physicality and toughness on the defensive end. They have been one of the worst defenses in the league this season and, at times, have looked almost disinterested on that end of the floor

 

They just don’t have the players to be a good defensive team.
Too many one dimensional guys on this squad.
We have ONE guy who can play both ends at a high level. One.
It was Rob’s job to fix this last summer and we’re still waiting.

I'm starting to think Gabe sticks around through the deadline. The guy competes defensively every night even if shots aren't falling (or going up in the first place).

 

The confidence he's shooting with right now. Different guy out there vs the scared guard out there just weeks ago who wouldn't shoot the open shot if you begged him.

Nice to finally see a string a games from him where he looks like the guy from Miami.
