Really really good man defense: those cornerback like hips and his quick hands just make a huge defense for the defense.
On top of that he's willing to hustle back on defense real hard (unlike basically everyone else on the team including the guys he took minutes from) and his size plus motor helps the Lakers on the glass and loose balls which again helps the defense by reducing opponents possessions.

Don't like him in the corner exclusively on offense. Not that he's any good on offense, just need to find a way off cuts or maybe setting screens where defenses just have to guard him.

Was our 2nd best on ball defender last year until he got injured. Not surprised at all by his promotion. If he could carve out 8 -10 points per game it’s icing on the cake.

His D is pretty damn decent but him standing in the corner posession after posession after posession is pissing me off. Dude does NOTHING on offense, his defender can do whatever he wants.

I'm fine with that, especially without Vando. We have 6 offensive guys, 3 of them are literally just offense. So it doesn't hurt as much to have these defense only guys. We won't lack any shot creation with him on the court because we have so much with the other guys

Well yeah, but if he was even an avg. 3pt threat, our "real guys" job would be so much easier.
I can't imagine being a basketball player, that can't freakin shoot...

JJ even brought it up in the presser that Cam didn't let PG get going.

If he is going to be Corner Cam, that's fine. Keep being an absolute menace defensively. Problem with DLO starting was he doesn't defend (well) and was getting Reddish like looks offensively.

Just please stay healthy at least until Vando ever gets back.

if he is, we'll have his early bird rights next season thanks to that disastrous player option.

    lol, definitely too soon.

but it's true that if any of wood, reddish, or hayes plays well enough that we'd like to keep them, having those early bird rights will be very useful.

hayes and reddish both took the vet min early--when teams still had cash they could have spent. i think the POs are what sealed those deals.

wood was very late, but iirc, there were other teams bidding, and again, the PO probably moved the needle.

it's pretty much SOP to do this when you get a guy on a vet min who you/they think could be worth more.

we did it with malik monk, and it burned us the other way (why didn't you force him to sign for two guaranteed?!).

guys taking less than what they think they're worth--particularly when they're young/in their prime--are going to want that PO.

If Cam can stay healthy and keep his temper in check, he makes Max expendable. Christie and Lewis match Valenucius salary. That would be a deft move, if Rob pulled that one off.

And both of those guys do have plenty of upside to their future. I also feel now with Knecht here that Christie is expendable. Lewis is filling out nicely with his frame and at some point with playing time on a team wanting to tank that both of them could turn into good players at low cost.

I think it would be a win for both teams. Those kids need playing time, and we want to win right now. Valenucius at 10M per, is a perfect pickup for us.

Now flip Rui.Hayes and Jhs for Vucevic, and that's a legit title contender, I wouldn't complain at all about keeping Tinkerbell.

Why do we need Vucevic if we get Jonas? I think Rui has more headroom to his game and Hayes is another big, plus and we pick up one empty roster spot with both Maxes going out, which can be used for Olivari (50 games available to use) or Koloko (49 left) .... whoever seems most likely to be able to help in the off season. Or another trade at the deadline.

Vucevic and AD can play together as 4/5. That's scoring and rebounding at a high clip, with Valenucius off the bench as the backup 5, who could play with either of them. We just transformed this team adding those two dudes. I'm not worried about the two way guys, we'd still have Russell, Reddish, Vincent, Vanderbilt, Wood, Knecht and Reaves. That's a legit 11 man rotation. I like Rui but hell yeah, I'd trade him Vucevic.
