He's earning more than Derrick Jones, a player who could be crucial in our poor rotation.

    Thanks Rob. Great job.

This should be made into a sign and hung on the wall of each office of every member of our FO.

i know we're justifiably down on the bench production, but the coach has to answer for gabe getting zero shots in 18 minutes, too, imo. much like the coach had to answer for AD never touching the ball in the second halves of games the past couple of years. no, gabe hasn't given us reasons to draw up plays for him, but he should be the guy teams are leaving open, and he needs to take open shots. rui only got 5 shots last night, too. this is a starter who's out there for scoring.

He's just not getting it done. Like I said with Max, you've got to be able produce and he's not doing that right now.

surprisingly he's basically a non factor

feels like we got duped by Miami once again.

i'll just keep repeating that miami wanted to sign him to nearly the same contract we offered. so they didn't dupe us. we got duped by the miami effect, but the heat themselves felt that he could have continued similar production there. and they were probably right.

yeah, someone else talked about it here recently, but one reason role players struggle here has to just be the involvement. i think jj's been better about it than ham and vogel were on offense, but it's hard to expect guys who don't get a lot of shots to find any rhythm.

gabe got 8 shots per game in 24 minutes during his rotation years in miami. he's averaged 4 FGAs in 18 mpg here.

maybe with max fully out of the rotation, we can find some more minutes and shot attempts for him. as it stands, we have 4 playable guards: reaves, dlo, reddish, gabe. reaves needs to be capped around 30mpg, imo, due to his style of play. that leaves 66 minutes for the other three. why not play gabe and dlo 25mpg each, have cam play 16 at sg and another 10 at sf.

i also would have considered starting him instead of cam. i get why jj did that, and i think it's looked mostly good, but i think gabe with the starters could work, too. we'd be smaller, but he plays bigger due to his strength, imo.

jj's going to have to find a way to use either max or gabe more effectively. and if max is already a lost cause, that puts more pressure here. if both guys just totally suck, it will also kill some trade possibilities that we're hoping for.

    Gabe Salary-Filler-For-Trade Snell out there.

I wouldn't because while Gabe can defend some, he doesn't bring heightened defensive energy to the game. Reddish and Vando are the only two on the perimeter who can do that. They can shut off an opponent's water, Gabe isn't that kind of player.

gabe was never a good 3pt shooter he just had the typical contract year performance with Mia....if he starts hes going to be used as a floor spacer, I dont see how that helps us or gabe improve

in an ideal world for me, we'd start gabe and vando as defensive glue guys between reaves/lebron/AD, who can carry on offense by themselves, imo. dlo, cam, rui, and hayes (platooned with a bulkier center) would come off the bench.

we probably won't see that, though, for several reasons.

i think you have him initiate the offense, then set screens and make plays in the middle of the floor. if he just gets back up to the below average three point shooting he had in miami (as opposed to the unfathomably bad shooting he's had here), you can live with this, imo.
