Yeah, not been a fan of him either. He grinds a lot but does very few things. Unable to create for him or the team, so he's a guy who spaces the floor and shoots but is not great at it. He defends better than DLo, and is more useful in crunch just being that "dive to the floor" guy, but it's too little for his salary.

Hope we can find something better, but he's more tradable next year, unfortunately

He's playing good defense but his size puts a severe cap on how much that defensive effort actually goes towards containing his opponent.

On offense, 1 bucket a game ain't it. He's not a high usage guy but that's next level offensive irrelevant. That's
    Soumaila Samake level suckitude.

people are fussing about our bench players' offensive production when only knecht is employed for that reason. max, gabe, and hayes are here to defend and finish plays. none of them gets enough minutes or shots to get the kind of rhythm that scorers need. do you want a bench scorer? play dlo 30mpg off the bench. that's not jj's current formula, and imo, his current formula is mostly working.

i reserve the right to change my opinion ten games from now.

That's fine for a minimum player like Reddish or the bigs, more is required out of Gabe and Max. I'm not asking for Lou Will or JC numbers but the defense can't pretend you don't exist out there and your get back is a whopping 3 points. If that's where you're at offensively, you better bring suffocating defense that is game changing. Try hards who anyone over 6-4 can rise up and shoot over isn't going to cut it.

We can spin it any way we want, but we can’t be having games where we get 8 points from our bench and expect to win. Aside from Knecht, we’ve been consistently getting 2-5 points from Max and Gabe. That’s horrendous. I agree that DLo should probably come off the bench and just have a green light to score, we don’t really need his scoring with the starters, Gabe plays well with them as well.

If our bench unit was a good defensive one, then we wouldn’t need them to score, but so far, they are failing at stopping anyone.

i'd be fine with it if i knew dlo wouldn't check out mentally. but i actually think we can win games with the bench not scoring much, as long as our starting five (all scorers) do their usual thing.

the trend to watch is if all the bench players keeping throwing up net minuses. because they're not all playing together, so it means if any of them is out there, we're suffering. i don't think that's happened in every game, but if it happens a lot, that's a problem.

also, we have a guy who's averaged nearly 20 and one of the league's better defenders in streetclothes right now. if max doesn't pick it up, vando comes back and gets all those minutes.

Only Max has been constantly negative. Last game it was the first time the bench was all negative, almost all in Bron's minutes. It makes sense, Bron wasn't playing well nor scoring, so the bench guys that played with him, suffered too.

I think we just need to twinkle the rotations when that happen. DLo and Bron had bad games yesterday and they led one of the bench units with Hayes and Max (+ whoever). If they both struggle, we're screwed. But they should take over those units, especially DLo. We need his best in that unit every game, we can then be fine if he's not great with the starting unit, but those minutes is where he has to dominate

This guy might as well be dead again, each time he shoots feels like he’s trying to beat the clock

It's so frustrating he shoots like he thinks he's Curry. I was hoping to get an Avery Bradley like bull dog on defense who could shoot and he's regressing on both ends
Someone on Lakers nation podcast posted that he was better for the Lakers last year when he was injured and that one hurt because it rung too close to the truth.

And he's too small on defense to guard anyone with size. Sigh

Gabe Vincent has scored 53 points in 18 total games for the Lakers.

He is 6/44 from three point range and is shooting 30% from the field overall. He's also only 1/2 from the ft line in those 18 games. I can't remember ever seeing a guard this bad offensively. Certainly not playable in 2024.

    Just a terrible offensive player

Here’s an idea: let’s not sign anymore Heat guards that got on a hot streak in the playoffs.
