Oh man...they just said on 710 a Monta-Hibbert swap protects cap space for both teams. If the Pacers want Matthews Dallas could renounce their willingness to sign him. Doubtful, very doubtful that happens but if the Pacers had their eyes on other moves this swap makes a lot of sense for them.

Why would the Mavericks renege on Wes Matthews?

I don't think we have to worry about this.

I can understand Mavs fans being angry, I would be too if I were them (hi, basketball reasons), but, then again, this is hilarious:

"If we didn't sign DJ we'd go full tank mode"....but I don't think Wes is going anywhere.

I meant that a Hibbert-Ellis swap helps the Pacers significantly more because it opens up a lot more cap space for them.

How? Aren't we just eating Hibbert's while deal?

Yes we did. However, the cap space they used to sign Ellis would then be free. Whatever is left over from Monta-Hibbert.

No, I think Ireland can't. I blindly assumed he knew what he was talking about.

Dollars are dollars. Whether it be through the cap space they have prior to signing Monta, or through a Hibbert-Monta trade, they'd have dollars.

Maybe what Ireland meant is that a little more cap space would be retained in a Indy-Dallas trade versus an Indy-LA trade. based on the Pacers cap space, Monta's salary, and Hibbert salary, I don't think it would amount to THAT much of savings. My head's spinning. This drama needs to resolve.

Here's the big difference between this and Hedo, Boozer, etc. -- those didn't involve management. This is a big black eye for the entire FA process. Cuban, at the very least, should be able to get this week BS period dropped and next year you'll be able to sign guys on the 1st. They can do the dumb audit a week earlier.

Also, why is Pierce allowed to be part of the Clippers meeting? How's that not some form of tampering? He's not a clipper.

Unless Dallas absorbs some bad contract from the Pacers I'm just not sure what Ireland said makes sense....

Wasn't Broussard's last tweet something about the meeting being over? Now they're stalling? Broussard's a chump.
