He did it too yes. But his old team didn't go crawling to his doorstep like beggars.

I thought it was between Utah and Chicago? Was it his first one between Cleveland and Utah?

Cleveland and Utah. Utah ended up offering him twice the amount of money.... would really blame Boozer though.

Okay. The point stands though that no team made a fool of themselves in the process.

I've heard that verbal contracts are binding in Texas if terms are agreed to by both parties.
Don't have verification of this, but could get sticky..

I hope so, and if DJ agrees to go back to Clippers, this won't go quietly. Cuban will find a way to stink it up. As he should...

My dream scenario is that Jordan goes back to the Clippers. Then Cuban sues everyone and everything. Then the NBA makes Jordan sign with the Mavericks. That way you get:

    1. Unhappy Clippers: bring on rebuild mode.
    2. Unhappy Mavs: get a player who didn't want to be there after all.
    3. Unhappy Jordan: stuck in a city he doesn't want to be in.

    Best of all worlds!

Ireland just said the DJ switch could impact the Hibbert trade, leaving us to go after Amare

According to Ireland DJ didn't have a binding "verbal agreement" with Dallas. Reason being is that the NBA disallows a binding agreement prior to 7/9.

I don't know if state law overrules league regulations, but there will be definitely be lawsuits filed, if not for any other reasons but Cuban making a big stink.

State laws in Texas come into play. This is clearly a business decision and business venture. There's laws against tampering with business plans. Mark Cuban's brother posted something about it. I put it in here somewhere.

I saw that. I just don't know which court has "jurisdiction". I would think NBA regulations have some kind of federal backing....

I don't know either, but I DO know that if Jordan goes back on his agreement that lawsuits will start flying hard and fast.

Regarding if this happens and Mavs want a run at Hibbert. What can they offer that trumps our offer? Anderson?

The good thing is that it's Cuban involved, if he loses DJ to the Clippers he will make a huge stink about things.

We could sign and trade Lin/Hill over there. We could send them Kelly/Sacre/Hill/Lin/Swaggy P.

Mavs could send... Anderson... Dirk? I don't know.

Cuban said they'd go full rebuild mode. I'm guessing it becomes a firesale if he was being serious about that.
