I'm really not sure where I fall with the Russell comparisons. I honestly think he will end being a better passer than guys like Curry or Harden.

Raise your hand again if all of these reporters' comments are making you crazy with anticipation. They seem to be truly impressed with Russell, Clarkson and Randle. I don't recall this kind of glowing, excited reporting coming back from simple scrimmaging ever. Some serious young talents are assembled.

Screw "the West". We are in the West too. Look the hell out when Kobe is back healthy, Hibbert, Black, Bass and the rest of this hungry alpha like core of players that is being dissed by EVERYONE. Lakers gonna suck again. No way in hell are we not going to be competitive for reaching the playoffs. Just give us reasonable health. No long term or season ending injuries. There's too much talent. One more SF would be swell.

It seems from everyone's observations, he is the more skilled pure passer "already" than Curry and certainly Harden.

I was a vocal "Okafor" guy. Really didn't understand the choice. BUT.... the passing I'm seeing from Russell is special. The few things I've heard from him directly just screams "leader." They are saying his outside shot is money. Short answer is yes, I'm excited. Really excited!

I'm not going to shy away from saying this repeatedly. He may have the physique of Curry, and his craftiness may be similar to Harden/Ginobili, but he has A GIFT at passing. He is Lil' Magic.

^Good one but Young Buckeye has the edge as a passer. Hardaway though pre-injury could jump out of the gym.

Yeah Penny was considered a successor to MJ before the injuries.
His game was predicated on supreme athletism. I don't see the comparisons with D'Angelo.

There is one floating around FB that is funny. Clarkson told Russell to go get the basketballs for practice. A little rookie hazing.

Tried to post here, but it wouldn't post. I'll try to find somewhere else.

It was during the scrimmage footage today. At one point in a nice way ( you don't hear it) but you see Jordan put his arm around D'Angelo's waist and say something and point off camera. Then Russell goes over and throws 5 or 6 balls back over for the guys.

Clarkson: "hey rook...I heard you're good passer."
    Russell: "yes I am..."
Clarkson: "good...now you see that rack over there?"

I can't wait for the first alley-oop this kid throws to Randle or Clarkson in summer league. I want those kids to run up the score every game for these next two weeks. Leave no doubt.

ok, i'll be the a******: the lakers haven't been so irrelevant for this long in...ever? most of these reports come from watching some very talented rookies play against untalented rookies and veterans. i'll get excited if we see some stuff in summer league, and i'll get super pumped if the youngsters show well in the preseason. but it's hard to take the breathless reports from either the local media (who have probably forgotten what a young kobe looked like in july each year) and our energetic young players talking about how great they are, to a man.

I feel bad typing that, because I want to believe, and I can see it happening. just don't want to get over excited considering the setting and source(s).
