He was dominant but that foul trouble made him tentative.. They also put Gordon on him and took away the pick and roll. I still would have posted him up a bit more but refs probably would have called a BS foul on him to take him away.

 

AD guarded Joker. AD had one of the best, most efficient games he'll have in his entire career. It ended with the Nuggets celebrating their win literally over him.

This was his response game to the media and players telling him he's not s***. We still lost.

We failed to get him 1 4th Q point.

He gives you this and you lose, it's a wrap.

 

I feel sorry for AD again.
He was Excellent on both ends.

 

Definitely feel bad for him. He left it all out there and played a great game.

 

Do you know what's funny? You could arguably say that AD's been the best player this series.

Not saying he is, but you can make a case for it, and that's crazy considering the team his down 2-0.

Both Bron and AD have been better than Murray by a good margin and Lakers are down 0-2 .

It means the rest of the team has been terrible

 

Not many will agree, but it's high time we start actually building around AD.

 

AD got the best of the Joker so it forced Denver to put their best defender on him.
We'll see what the Lakers can do. Gordon is smaller but he's got the leaping ability and strength to bother AD postups but the Laakers are going to have to find a way to punish that move.

If AD could hit 3's man you would have open driving lanes as you could pull both their bigs out of the paint but since he can't. I think you have to pull Rui into the corner and force Gordon to their rim protector with Lebron/AR driving into the lane. That way AD can be the lob threat and have an advantage on the offensive glass

 

yeah, if they're going to put gordon on AD, i think we need to look to get AD the ball in the low post instead of in the mid/high post where he was killing jokic. gordon's quick enough to take away his angles there.

if we had a better tactician at the helm, i feel like you can exploit jokic and murray on defense when you have top-tier talent like lebron and AD. i bet if denver plays boston, the C Bags will find ways to get buckets left and right by exploiting the fact that denver's most indispensible offensive players are generally not strong individual defenders (that goes for mpj, too).

 

We did exploit Jokic/Murray in the first half and seemingly forgot how we did it!

You'd think we would give the ball more to the guy who scored a ton of points in the first half.

Unfortunately, this is just the story of this team this year....can look incredible at times and a laughing stock in a moment.

 

I don't think the Nuggets putting Gordon on AD had much to do with Gordon ability to guard AD better than Jokic .

Malone knew Lebron was going to play target ball at all cost and his target was Jokic .

By putting Jokic on Rui , the Nuggets were fine with Rui being involved in the action instead of AD , who wouldn't be ?

This was and is a mistake Lebron sometimes can do down the stretch imo.

He's prioritizing targeting the weakest opponent defender over involving Anthony Davis .

On the other hand Murray and Jokic are going to be involved no matter who's guarding them

 

Look at the offensive plays below before Lebron even checked in and started doing his thing



No one was able to get anything going. This is way more than Lebron playing "target" ball. If anything, I give him credit for staying aggressive when everyone else was struggling.

 

I mean its pretty clear the Gordon change mucked the offense up. I'm not saying they don't have solution but it definitely baffled them.
the Dlo crazy pass, the bad AD shot, reaves TO were the Lakers trying to figure out how to get AD involved with the new scheme.

The Spencer miss - man that would have help so much if he hit that and Ham could have kept him - needed another guy other then Lebron to go attack the hoop.
