Handy has so much cachet and respect he can get in anyone’s face …. and has. Bring Rondo on the staff and maybe some well respected looking for a job ex HC.

I think the players want him because they know that they’d be running things. He’s their buddy and an asst coach. I think the inmates would be running the asylum. We have no reason to think Handy is an X’s and O’s Guy at all. And maybe if Lebron is healthy you don’t need that so much, but next year I bet he plays around 50% of the games. What then?

nah, he might be the convenient pick, but I doubt the right pick. Being the boss is just different.

There's a ton of good assistants. We just need to pair Handy up with a very good go great schematic assistant. There's where you need to spend your money. For instance, Kerr has had Mike Brown, Ron Adams, Kenny Atkinson, as "assistants."

Keep it simple. Elevate Handy, bring in capable assistants, and just rock with that next year. We're also going to have assets to move some pieces around and build this roster in a way that could fit Handy's vision of style and the way he wants to play.

The only other way I would change my opinion is if a top tier head coach was let go somewhere, and I just don't see that happening.

Teaching skills is different than coaching 5 players on the foor st the same time. I don’t understand why people think that necessarily translates to success.

He also does a lot of teaching while on the court. Clearly, if anybody has been paying attention during games, these guys pay attention much more to Handy than they do Ham. I've seen them outright ignore Ham and go and have an interaction myself with Handy myself while he's explaining something during a game; could be an adjustment, a coverage, it definitely isn't "basketball" development drills during a game.

I'm sure he's more than capable particularly with good assistants. He'd also be cheap, these guys know him, etc. Could it be a disaster? Sure, but after this season with Ham, we need a change.

I agree on the change part, but I guess I need some convincing that he’s head coach material.

I'm all for bringing in a complete staff.

I also feel like the only time the team really did that was with Vogel and part of that seemed to be just because they never believed in him and wanted his replacement ready to go.

Maybe that plays out again with a guy like Handy, but I don't get why we didn't do that before particularly with guys like Ham and Luke.

Overall, like I said on WMC thread, there is no one on the coaching staff or front office I would be upset if we got rid of or argue about us keeping.

However, I don't think the front office has shown anything that really makes me believe they can handle a coaching search.

The one time they got it right, they kind of tripped over a solid hire in Frank and then made him the scape goat for the worst trade in Laker history.

That's not enough of a reason for us to stand pat, but it isn't filling me with confidence. Honestly feel like we're going to be right back here in 2 to 3 years for just different failings.

Prove me Jeanie. Prove me wrong....

I don’t want to lose Handy as a developmental coach, I’m with Sirron I don’t think he is a tactician (like Ham, who should have stayed as an assistant and has no business being a head coach, but I think Ham was the cheapest option so Jeannie loved the hire)

Metta as an assistant, maybe. As a head coach? Nah, he needs to prove himself in a smaller role for many years first.

I don't mind keeping Handy around but I'm not sold on him as a head coach either if we aren't going to put some experienced guys on the staff.

This will be the closest Ham would be to 50 wins and it’s his own damn fault

We also matchup pretty well with NO, and while I like NO's coach, he is probably on par or comparable to Darvin if we're ranking head coaches.

When faced with a team better head coach and a roster seemingly even with us with respect to talent, he gets outdueled almost everytime. Let's see how we finish the next NO game and go from there.

If we do happen to win it, I have a feeling Malone will have a field day outcoaching Ham in the first round.
