Has that ever happened? It opens a big precedent and can f up the schedule. I think mistakes are part of the game. Players make it, refs too. Refs just have to be taken at an higher standard. It's the biggest league in the world, you gotta have the best of the best. Internationalize refereeing
It has. If they're not willing to replay the final 20+ seconds, then they need to do away with the 2 minute report and that alleged attempt at transparency immediately.
Max Strus of CLE did what we all pretended to do when we were out hoopin' all day on the playground: win a game with a loooong last-second shot: CLE, down 119-118 with like, 2.5 secs left and no TOs. He hits a 60 footer to win it. But if you watched that game, the last 5 minutes were lit. Strus's shot was just the icing.
This has to be a joke right, they’re messing with us? There’s no way Chris Paul is dumb enough to turn down a legit chance at a ring over a jersey number right..?
Obviously, lying, out-and-out LYING has been going on for a long time. "Sorry but superstar X,Y,Z is out tonight with a calf strain." Next step?: NBA sends in their own doctor to test superstar Z, X or Y. If the injury's legit: no fine. Of course this leads to a minor career in off-off-off Broadway acting on the part of superstars. NBA Dr: You seem to be favoring your right knee. Do you remember when you strained it, and how? Superstar: Yea, I...came down with a board in practice and somethin' wasn't right, ya know? I could tell right away. I think I need a couple days and I'll be fine. NBA Dr: So, you need to sit out tonight's game? Is what you're saying? Superstar: Well, I mean...yea, man. NBA Dr: Only reason I ask is that your trainer said it was the other knee that was bothering you. Superstar (blank look, like he's been caught in a lie): Ah, well, he made a mistake. Doesn't know right from left (laffs). Maybe someone got it backward when they sent the file over. NBA Dr: Riiiight.
Chet is really a great rookie, but Wemby has lived up to all the hype and then some. That block by Wemby on Chet at the top of the key with around 3 mins left, where he just blocked it and took it: breath-taking. All I ask of both guys is that they each put on 30 pounds of muscle in the off-season, if only so I don't constantly live in fear that I'm going to see one or the other break in half like a twig during some game. 'Cuz that would really blow. Neither guy is ever gonna look "meaty" or even "solid" no matter what they do, but man: the mad skillz on two 7'2" (split the diff?) spindly dudes: it's kinda freaky to watch. Put on some weight, Chet and Wemby! We implore you.
yeah, i think the press has tried to turn ROTY into a horse-race, but it's not close. chet would be ROTY in most years, though. this is not most years.
well, you see, the trainer was facing me and my right was his left, sooooo he was telling you, from his point of view which side it was, but I was turned the other way!!! Yeah, that's it!!
PHO goes to DEN and is up 22 3 mins into the 3rd, then DEN comes back to go up 3 with under a minute left when KD, who couldn't hit anything, drilled a 3 to tie it. Joker's last sec shot bounced around the rim and out: OT. I'm thinking: the DEN team that came back was that one we played the other day. Then, in OT, Suns can't miss a shot, Nugs can't make one. Weird game. I'm thinking: when will the Lakers see the DEN team that fell down 22 at home to the mediocre Suns? When will the Lakers see the version of the Nugs we saw in OT? I'm thinking I shouldn't hold my breath: they are always up for us. Always. So, PHO stays in the Top 6 in the West. I really was pulling for the Nugs in this one. Can't stand PHO. I really have no animosity toward DEN; it's just that they scare the EFF outta me...for good reason. __________ Didn't watch but read/heard about Spurs@ Rockets. Sengun had 45/16/3 with 5 steals and HOU beating SA 114-101. Only two guys on HOU shot any FTs the entire game: Sengun and Thompson. Combined they were 7 for 11. Sengun was the only HOU starter who shot any FTs; Wemby had 0 FTs; only 4 Spurs shot any FTs and Sochan, Vassell and Keldon Johnson went 12 for 14 from the line. Zack Collins was the only other player to shoot any FTs, going 1 for 2. Ya gotta wonder what was going on here. I mean, talk about swallowing your whistle. __________ Still, it was a good day: the Bags LOST! (With the help of an overturned call/coach's challenge with 0.7 left!: Tatum kicked out; Garland's foul was ruled no foul: one of the best "coach saved the challenge for late" dealios.) Cavs, w/o Spiderman and Mobley, outscored BOS 34-17 in the 4th to win 105-104: Dean Wade did to the damned Bags what Lebron did to the Clips a few days ago: outscored the entire Bags team in the 4th with 20 on 5 3s, etc.
Jeez. I totally missed this until I saw this post. Torn meniscus. Damn. Sucks for MIN. So much of winning it all comes down to luck with injuries, and they just had a huge setback. Bad for KAT, bad for MIN, bad for the Assn. You want to beat other teams when they are at full strength (or close to it: there's always an impact player hurt, or not at his best due to some nagging thing). I suspect AntMan steps up and blows everyone away, but we'll see.
doubly bad for minny because their salaries start escalating this summer. they're basically over the apron with 8 guys signed--no mike conley. this was the year if there was to be one, imo.
