That future pick scares me, our FO has a track record of just throwing away picks like they matter. Better be a second rounder.

Yeah and somehow don't see Larry Legend doing us any good willingly. He needs our cap room to take Hibbert but may get something of value back in return.

Hibbert, looking at this stats, is a model of consistency per minute. His playoff numbers were surprising to me because all I really know of him is the meltdown. Actually his playoff numbers are up every year over his regular season numbers. That's impressive for anyone actually.

He's 28 and still physically without any real issues. If he turns it around we have someone we can re-sign next year AFTER we attract a FA or two. If not then we have our $$ for next years July 1-5 fan meltdown.

It also fixes the two problems the FO has. Fans get some hope and they still have the flexibility to get the new face of the franchise next year.

Very low risk and potential high reward choice.

I'd hope we wouldn't be giving up a first round pick. As bad as we are our first rounders for the next few years are going to be in the teens, still valuable. Second rounder, fine, we have enough of those on our roster already to last for years. Do we even have first round picks from 2016-2018 though?

Not to mention we may already have one or two future faces of the franchise here now in Russell and Randle. IMO (knowing you are "show me" on Randle)

I'm "show me" on all rookies. The transition from college is massive. More than any other professional sport. I have no particular skepticism with him more than any other rookie.

Where is the giving up a pick talk coming from? I don't care if it's second rounders. We can always buy those in a pinch. With Russell, Randle, Clarkson, Black, maybe Upshaw...We don't need any more rookies. Ideally it's Swaggy, Nance, Sacre and a couple second rounders. Sign McDaniels to be our backup wing instead of Swaggy.

    Hibbert/Upshaw/Black
    Randle/Black/Kelly
    Kobe/McDaniels/A. Brown
    Clarkson/McDaniels/J. Brown
    Russell/Clarkson/Price

    Nice 12 man rotation.

If we give up a 1st round pick we need Stern to come back and put a stop to it.

Optimism - Hibbert and Upshaw both mentally get right and back in good spirits and we have two LEGIT 7 foot monsters that can play defense.

As a Laker fan, you absolutely have to be pulling for both of them to do that. I hear having a legit center is a big pull for potential star FA.

There will be MANY "wtf" posts in the WMC thread next season ;). Lazy, unathletic, mentally weak... Kobe will make him cry 3 days in to the training camp.

It's a win-win for us, he's expiring and needs to play well for a bumper deal next year, protects the rim well. Just hope it's a second not a first round pick.

Why would "ideally" include Nance in there? Are you not wanting to see what this kid has? Good head on shoulders, athletic, big dude, defensive minded, wants to do the dirty work. Can spell time at 4 or 3.

Edit I see you subbed Price in there. I dunno man. Want to see Nance. Well we will in a few days.

Out with the family now, but it's a good deal for us.

It's just 2nds and Majok so guys should calm down about the picks going out.

Mitch= good at trades and drafting. Bad at wooing stars.
