You can make your team lose a game in 11 minutes. It's a lot of time in NBA, almost an entire quarter
What an amazing defense - not saying he wasn't awful or not when he played but he needed more minutes to prove it. Anyways i still like Wood and would give him more minutes when he's not obviously stinking up the joint
Yeah but we were up at halftime. Lebron, Rui and D'Angelo went 1-11 in the 3rd quarter...there is the real problem, gotta make shots.
That's certainly good enough to be a backup 5. Solid defensive stats, knows how to use his length. I am a fan, when Ham is using him correctly.
Wood had a very good game tonight. He was everywhere. Glad that Ham went back to him over Hayes. Also that Woods was professional during that whole benching which I wasn’t sure was going to happen when we first got him.
the wood experience has been basically the opposite of what i expected, in both good and bad ways. mostly good, though, tbh.
I think Wood needs to play about 18 minutes a game as he did last night. He’s been very effective in stretches so far this year and I like his chemistry on court with both Lebron and AD. No he’s not a bruiser but he’s a very skilled big who fits the team. Just don’t play him alongside Hayes. Ugh. Why do I need to even say that out loud?
Great! Let’s keep that up. Definitely feels like he got of DNP’s earlier on in the season and some quick hooks. Wish he hadn’t had to play a bunch with Hayes which made no sense.
Yes, that time with Hayes was really wasted. You can play him as AD's backup or he can play some 4 opening the floor for AD. I like those lineups where Wood and Vando are playing together. In any case, when he is on the floor, the pace picks up and the efficiency is very good. He has some sweet finishing moves around the basket. Dude can play for sure. 18-20 minutes seems great for him and he'll pretty much always be available, except in case of a total freak injury, and that is important too.
He needs to play big minutes tonight with Bron out. He has played well against the Clippers this year - I hope Ham isn't an idiot
Another reason I want to to trade Rui. Wood needs more minutes. He's actually a reasonably switch defender even. This team is really close to being very good and we've seen it with the IST but roster with Ham is just not balanced right
rui for perimeter speed makes sense since it turns out he really can't play much sf (something that worried me from the beginning). if he's going to be a 4-5, wood may actually be a better option right now. going forward, though, wood probably doesn't stick around for the vet min bump next year, so moving rui might not be great long-term. i'm also not sure that the players i'd target (preferably a fast pg or sf who can defend) are available for rui.
Wood won't really get any serious burn, if Rui is here. He's on a minimum contract, and we just reupped Rui at 14M. Ham has already upset the apple cart, by starting Reddish, on a minimum contract. I don't think Rob would approve of two vet minimums, and Prince on a 4.6M mini MLE, as heavy rotation pieces, after coughing up extensions for Austin, D'Angelo, Rui and Jarred. It's still a business, and the money being spent, still counts. Unless...the extensions were done, simply to create more trade friendly contracts.
if that's true, i wish rob had flexed that particular muscle earlier. several problems would not exist if so, imo.
