It felt like that all of last year until the trades and playoffs. I really didn't expect to see that now. I really didn't like some of the combinations, so I hope he gets guys to fall into a good rhythm soon and regular rotations. Our rotations seem haphazard and nonsensical.

C'mon coach. You had since the end of the conference finals to plan and prepare. I'm not buying this is just one game bs that some are trying to sell us. This team swept us in embarrassing fashion, been trash talking all off season, our players are talking about crashing the ring night party, and we don't show up? You can win the next ten games and not wash that stench away. The past few season's LeBron and crew have been all talk and no show. Time to stay away from the microphones and get to work.

to me, playing lebron 29 minutes was the message that this game was less important to the coach than it was to the fans. i get it. we can't set a precedent for running the old man 40 minutes to get a regular season win, but it certainly feels like we left some stuff on the table.

The day I'll see a Lakers coach implement off ball movement on post ups , I'll be rich

Just watched the Suns' game. We need to attack the paint and boards all night. Pts in the paint and rebounding will be the deciding factors for a dub. If Booker is out, no excuses not to win.

    Gotta grab this one

Looking for LeBron and Reaves big night

yeah, i get killed for mentioning it in the AD thread, but even if he's not a great passer, he needs to be given the opportunity to hit guys for easy buckets. we just send nobody most of the time. makes it easier on the defense when there's little to no off-ball movement, especially when they go to the hard doubles on AD.

AD is pretty terrible at the top of the key. He's no Marc Gasol or Jokic in that regard.

I've been a pretty big Ham supporter overall, but have to admit the coaching job he did in the playoffs vs the rest of the year felt like night and day.

Given the roster, it was easier to give him a pass. But a more experienced coach probably manages the situation better. How do you argue with that team thrown together and making the WCF?

But this year, with as many returning players as we had, I really felt like we feel a little more continuity coming out of the playoffs. But it feels like the guys have never played together. Feels like we have no clue what the lineup combinations will be. Feels like there is no set system that players are plugging into. It feels like glorified pickup ball, and it's ugly. We'll win because of the talent we have, but coaching does seem to be a team weakness.

Halftime adjustments were always questionable. Really hoping Ham finds his rhythm quickly and makes all the crappy coach talk go away fairly quickly. Right now it feels like we could do better, but we may be taking for granted the personality needed to manage this unique group of players and keep them on his side like last year.

Maybe his best asset is his player relationship, and it's possible we need not to be too quick to overlook that. But it feels like if you insert a "Phil Jackson or other top coach" into this situation, that we'll have much better results.

We played one game. There's 81 left. Calm down no?

NO team apart from Denver are playing their best. And they're the champions and made a total of 0 additions to their roster. I don't get these takes with absolutely no enough evidence

all of year one from Ham minus the playoffs was pretty good evidence

I'm moving towards the "Playoffs was the anomaly" stage right now. Just not happy with what I see, but to your point, if any team could make you look bad, it's the defending champs.

But if we are #2 in the West possibly, it just shows how big the gap is for now for whatever reason you want to insert. If we played them 4 games today, it's another sweep, and I don't feel that is justified based upon personnel. To me, that falls to coaching. Time to see some sort of system and comprehensible rotations and lineups after 1 year. We didn't get that in year one.

yeah, i've gone on and on for a while now about where AD gets his touches. he just shouldn't have the ball there. it's basically his weakest spot on the floor. you have to be an outstanding passer or a great shooter or both to play from there (and if you can, it's really tough to cover as a defense--see dirk, kobe, kawhi). AD is neither. he's an elite face up mid post player, elite lob finisher, solid low post scorer, and solid midrange shooter (most of the time). that's his game. we don't play to his strengths often enough, and it starts with the 4-out and 5-out philosophy. it doesn't fit the personnel, even with the new shooters on the team.

i'm not that mad at ham. a lot of my AD on offense gripes happened under vogel, too, tbh.

against denver, we just get outplayed, imo. their guys make shots and ours don't. i don't know why, but that's just been what's happened lately.

Your points are all good but I am irritated at Ham and I was at Frank for the same reason. We can see what needs to happen, why can't they use AD correctly? I also get exasperated at AD. I know it isn't his personality but I want him to just say f you guys and start attacking, force the action, make like the superstar he could be. If he waits on these coaches his career will be over. Ham is evidently good at some things but game planning and game day coaching aren't on that list. We could easily be so much more.

I'm totally with experimenting with lineups but for the love of the basketball gods please stop the following:
    1) playing two PG's who aren't good 1v1 defenders and don't rebound together
    2) no C lineups
    3) not playing players who did well in the 1st half til the 3rd quarter

Try things that have a good chance of working not that can automatically be exploited

Props for noticing us getting killed on the glass, deploying Wood and that really paying off.

Gabe getting 35 minutes is a failure.

I don't like how he's using some of the guys or the rotations he's going with. Hopefully growing pains, trial and error and we'll work it out in the next 13 games or so.

This dumass is going to ruin the season. It took him 3 quarters to understand something that was evident to everyone after the first 8 minutes.
