All good until you went all DJ/Ainge on us! I still can’t stand every time I see Danny’s weasel face.
Anyway, I agree on all of the goodness in this post.

    Haha

I think Miller will be good too, I just don’t get taking fit with the 2nd overall pick, you take the guy who looks like he can possibly be a franchise player, or at least likely an all-star. It’s like us with Zo and Tatum, you don’t take fit there, if Tatum looks special you take him and you figure out fit with LeBron/Kuz/whoever later on. Anyway, yeah I agree Max looks great, and I mean we’re talking about the 35th pick here, not the 3rd or 4th like with Scoot and Thompson, if he ends up being a solid NBA starter at some point it was a fantastic pick and well handled development. Same with Reaves, undrafted to playoff team starter, we are finding true value in places you wouldn’t expect and working with the assets we have since we rarely ever have lottery picks.

It's very interesting to see how much a year in the league improves your game. Not only Max's numbers this year vs last year but you see it all around: Keegan Murray's 41pts and just yesterday you got great games from Daniels, Beauchamp, Brandon Williams, Watson, Sharpe, Jabari, Eason, Champagnie. All of them spent the year in an NBA roster, most of them with some playing time too. It just makes such a difference

Great to see Max's confidence, can't wait to see him in preseason

The levels between summer league and the NBA is just that big that even those rotation level players look like world beaters in summer league.

Max is looking good in general, hoping he can get establish himself in the rotation and get a lot of minutes this year.

Max is clearly an NBA player. He does not even belong to that summer league competition… clearly a step above the rest. He’ll get minutes this year for sure.

lots of nba players have kids they don't even know about

Kobe did have a stretch where he strayed

    He could be Kobe's son

Maybe we need a DNA test....

I was a little concerned about our SG position with just Reaves and Christie but Christie is ready for it. Give him valuable mins throughout the season.

I questioned this pick a little last season but of course the scouts nailed it.

The confidence is a pleasant surprise. There's no hesitation and he's more often than not making the right decision. I wasn't expecting him to have this large of a ball handler role in summer league. He's up for it, just considering the roster that's odd direction from the coaching staff.

    Shot looks smooth.

No real complaints with what I've seen so far in these few games.

GS had started to catch up a bit and Max just calmly buried this shot, so smooth

Max is coming for someone's job. I don't want to see him backing up Austin, I want the two on the court together. They are a perfect match on both ends. Ham has to be drooling to have two guards that can pretty much do it all and be so interchangeable. They don't fit his midget scheme but otherwise are perfect. This is going to be the guard combo I was hoping for when we got Dlo. Guards playing defense that can fight through or switch. Ham can mix up the defensive looks. Both can take it to the hoop, shoot mid range, hit threes, make free throws, pass, rebound. Both are high character team first guys. With what we have right now my starting line up would be Lebron, AD, Reaves, Christie and Castleton. A new acquisition or someone blowing up in camp could change my mind but for now I'm starting Colin for a few reasons. I want to preserve AD right from the git go, I want size and rim protection so AD doesn't have to do everything. Castleton has a high bball IQ and will develop rapidly. Hopefully he will quit fouling every other play...lol. Using him early will have him ready for the playoffs. Despite being a rookie he is 23 and has pretty good college experience. He isn't like a one and done guy. I don't want Lebron at the five at all and AD as little as possible. I want them both happy and healthy. The two H's go a long way toward a championship. Hayes can back up Castleton till we find someone else. Colin is going to be hard to keep off the court unless Rob can get us a big I'm not seeing available (he likely will). Max is going to be hard to keep off period cause he just that good. His play last season showed that, this summer league stuff is just a little affirmation.

Yeah..a bit overly optimistic but it's the summer. I expect Max to have some ups and downs, with more playing time, but he's still young. I really don't expect anything out of the rookies this season tbh, besides G League action and occasional spot duty.
