I understand the very basics of the soft salary cap which I believe is 123 mil this year.

The Lakers are struggling with LeBrons and AD's combined, what? 78 mil. They're hoping to be able to re-sign AR and Rui but it's apparently going to be tight. I understand they additionally need to fill out the roster

YET... The Phoenix Suns are paying Ayton 33 mil, Booker 32 mil, KD 48 mil and now Beal, 44 mil for a combined 158 million and trying to bring in Brogdon for anoither 23mil. That would put them at 181 million. WTF? How the hell are they doing that? I don't get it. Is there no limit to an NBA payroll as long as you pay the luxury taxes? I belive the hard cap was eliminated decades ago, but still, it seems insane.

current cap is 134, i believe, and lebron/AD make more like 95ish? too lazy to get it right on, but it's a lot.

not sure what path the suns have to brogdon without giving up ayton.

and yes, there is actually no limit.

i'm good with the current rules, as i think the hard cap only helps the owners make more billions on top of their billions. the suns might get burned.

Wow a blast from the past …. Clublakers included. One of my faves over the years. If you can drop in more often. Yes that’s what Jeanie’s up against but sounds like the playing field is getting more level with the tough 2nd tier tax penalties for roster building.

And Vogel who a certain someone here said was fired because he sucked, not was a scapegoat for the Westbrick debacle year one, and proof of that was going to he was probably done as a head coach for quite awhile …… of all the head coaches hired since the regular season end ….. roster wise (star power and top talent) HE is the Coach that landed the highest profile and most plumb gig of all those guys.

…. once again SCOREBOARD Frank to that BS.

LT! What is up, brother?! Great to see you! I will def try to drop in more, maybe even revive that Lakers' "It's Only A Game" weekly comic strip. Draft's in two days. I'm in on Bufkin, Hawkins and a few others. We'll see if we even still have the pick come draft day or are picking for someone else.
