Interesting they may have been better off with Dante or Moody who can shoot better. They plan to switch everything on defense? This doesn't seem to put too much strain on the Lakers defense though, they're going to sag off of him and dare him to shoot.
I think they're going to switch and try to protect Klay on defense. This clearly a defensive not offensive adjustment for them. I don't think they liked what they saw and are going to try protect Klay from getting picked on.
ironically, i think it's about shutting off the paint on defense. they're thinking they can sit in AD's lap and have the quickness to cut off driving lanes otherwise. it could work, but it sure seems desperate to me. feel like they've won a lot with looney, and going away from him has been weird. play your game. whatever, maybe i'm dumb. kerr has the rings.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity for Malik to go off to me. If they plan on leaving guys open on the perimeter to double AD..man...that can backfire spectacularly. D'Angelo can shoot too.
yep. they're thinking that they'll be quick enough to contain all dribble penetration and switch all high screens. i'd screen with AD, force green on the ballhandler, get a step on him, and just toss it up.
Both Wiggins and him are good rebounders and very good defenders but man the offense is going to get clunky for them if they do not get out in transition The Lakers aren't Sacremento, Lebron is bigger then both of them and can see over the top. It's definitely risky if the Lakers can keep the turnover to a minimum and work the ball inside it will create a whole lot of problems as both Lebron and AD can just shoot over the top as long as they get a body into any of the 3 frontcourt players Their best game was series 2 were GP2 got no time!
Yeah..this is an intriguing decision by Kerr. Sounds like he's going for broke tonight. We need to practice some shot discipline, attack the paint, pass on some of the many open looks from deep, we will get. The only other thing I can think of, is maybe they are looking to exploit our transition defense with a small lineup?
they're going to try to get some offensive fouls on our big players, imo. they know the press and fans are yapping.
I think this is try to slow down D Lo and to make Bron have the ball more AND defend more and get tired. He will have to defend Wiggins and that will require energy. D Lo can’t defend him. They will certainly try to body AD a lot and make him settle for jump shots. We are home. The “others” need to hit shots. AR and Dennis and Rui need to really show up.
But who are they planning on bodying up AD with? Green and Wiggins? This will only work if AD decided to show off his handle on a bunch of dribble drives or something.
This seems a bit premature lol. Although Lakers are having a weird playoff run - they are facing maybe their best competition early rather than late
Green will body up AD and they'll try to cut off any dribble penetration with good perimeter defense between Wiggins and GP 2 rather than with rim protection. As @abeer3 pointed out they likely will try to mimic what Memphis did by fronting AD and using Wiggins and GP 2 to swarm. Honestly not a bad defensive gameplan the problem is if you don't create turnover this is a really clunky offense and you can still target Klay
We'll see but tbh, I don't think Draymond can do anything with AD on the low block. He does a much better job if AD is in the high post, and tries to dribble the ball before he gets up a shot. Green is no longer a Jackson jr caliber defensive player. He can still move his feet and has good timing on swiping at the dribble. Anthony should be catching the ball low, and then turn and shoot over Draymond.
Someone getting fired. Also i hope the don't foul plan fails miserably. Our easiest way for their barrage of 3s not to matter is by living at the line -- even though we shockingly had a better 3 point night than they did in G3.
