he's a situational "energy" player for a few minutes at best.

we should never be relying on him to play 30 mins at Center ever again.

I generally agree, but he was very good last night, and the team won when he was on the court. He was +12 with 14 rebs including 7 o-rebs and 2 steals. If Ham had started him instead of -15 Rui*, good chance we win that game. When he came to his senses and started Gabriel in the 2nd half, the Lakers went +9.

    * And I like Rui too, but there's no way he should be starting at C. He's a backup 3/4 or borderline starting 3/4 if he develops more.

BUT Gabriel did have 5 fouls and is a foul machine. If he starts, Rui still might have been in at center 3 minutes into the game.

We should have won without a center. Rockets are not good and if anyone other than AR, Vando, Gabriel, and DS actually showed up to the f***ing game, we win.

I agree it's dumb not to have a 10 day guy for these scheduled rests for AD, but last night's game was decided by effort and we didn't have it.

He deserves a contract for lighting up Cameron Payne in the 2nd quarter last night

He’s just a great bench player for us: size, D, hustle. And yeah that hook shot!

I still love his energy. He’s a little small against Memphis but better than nothing! I still want to see TT or Bamba get some minutes too.

Very solid game: did what he was supposed to do. Play defense, rebound, and finish junk inside.
If he can spell AD for 12 minutes a game: just a huge plus.

The interesting thing is if he's at 5 where he is definitely on the smallish side but you move Lebron to the 4 and Rui to 3 you still end up with a pretty big frontcourt overall.

Wenyan played just like that all year. No idea why it took so long to give him a sniff. And yes as the offensive personnel change against us, if Bamba or TT can match up “possibly” OK when AD goes out, especially Mo with the 3 point capability …. give either some burn too. They have been there long enough with the practices now. Especially with 4 more before Kings or Warriors.

Wenyen has been improving his game ever since he emerged late last season. One more vet minimum contract, and we have his full Bird rights after next season. He's a good piece to keep around IMO.

Just his mobility on the high pick and roll switch on defense to the 3 point shooter

Loved using Gabriel in spurts. Gave AD small breathers & kept the energy up.
