Terrible night offensively. But AD made some incredibly timely plays down the stretch and contributed to the win. Sometimes you just have to fight through it and he did.

“He’s supposed to be the best player on his team at this stage of his career. On some nights, he’s the best. On others, you’re like, what the hell is up with this dude?”

since Lebron played 45 last game, we probably will need a dominant AD for Game 5 if we want that win. I can't imagine any amount of ice therapy will have lebron ready for that game feeling rested

The team needs to get him the ball on the move and limit just posting him up.

I don't complain about his offense too much because he usually carries the defense but the team can certainly make things easier on O for him.

I truly wish we had a stat for 4th quarter and OT FT percentages for this guy because i bet he’d be bottom 3 of all the “stars”.

It’s all mental and you can just tell now once he’s at the line, he thinks about it and all the misses in crunch at the stripe this season, proves it yet again.

Lebron’s miss and misses (FT) are understandable, he has never been a solid FT shooter his entire career. Davis on the other hand is diff, esp for a big, who is known to make over 80% IIRC for career at the stripe. I cringe when he goes up with the game on the line.

He also got busted in the nuts by Bane. He got pretty roughed up all night. He still should have played much better on offense, but again, his defense was stellar and he made some key plays down the stretch. He'll be better again.

Probably not, but as ever it depends. He averages 25, 12 and 2 blocks so I don't think this will continue. On the other hand if he does continue to suck offensively but has 7 blocks and three steals a game as we've seen him do, and has 17 boards then we possibly can. I might be crazy but I have faith in AD.

this is what i was saying in the game chat. we can't find him quality touches. some of that is credit to memphis, but some of that is a shortcoming on our part. i think if we hit enough from the perimeter, memphis's (and others') AD gameplan is dead. but we don't do it enough, and AD gets out of rhythm/lost in the shuffle. we try to force lobs and post ups instead of getting him on the move in spots where he can be more effective. we did a better job in the second half there, but most of his work was still harder than it should be.

all that said, despite the rough start, his long jumper and tip in were both crucial. missed a couple clutch fts again, though, which is just becoming expected.

    when you're quoting chuck...

actually thought kenny's rebuttal was on point there, too. chuck just likes to hate on AD. not sure why, but he was the guy calling him streetclothes, too, right? sorry, there's an agenda there. and this is why i'm always bringing up other players. like--does chuck say this about anthony edwards, who goes from nova to non-existent regularly? jimmy butler does it, too, speaking of. some guys' offensive games are more variable. AD is a defensive player first and foremost. that he scores 25 a game and forces teams to devote a second defender every night regardless of his scoring output is a giant cherry on top.

anyway, wonder what the hip injury is. is it just a bruise or is it some sort of strain? he seems to be moving ok, just in a lot of pain when he hits it.
