they just don't have anyone left you can trust. i love torrey craig (pride of usc upstate!), but man, he can't be your 5th best player. it's saved them for years. it's why they've been competitive while we were putrid with our stars out. they aren't throwing over the hill or inexperienced vet mins out there. case in point: i thought the clippers really feasted on jock landale in game 1. he wasn't ready for the moment at all. suns benched him the last two, and it helped them. plumlee and zubac killed the suns in game 1 and have been super quiet in the last two. biyombo has his faults but won't get ragdolled.
It's a lot of 5 out basketball, similar to how the Nets got a winning record before KD/Irving. They have a ton of shooting and a bunch of 6'5-6'8 guys and it's basically drive and kick, screen and kick, and rinse and repeat. They did get hurt on the glass with Ayton but it's like in the NCAA's if they got hot from 3 this style of ball can beat a better quality opponent as long as you have guys willing to pass and hit 3's. NBA parity is a real thing mainly to just the increased skill level of guys now: like it was a big deal in the 80's when AC green hit a 20 footer. Now all these guys can jack up 3's. ***from a phoenix standpoint, I just don't get how you don't at least post up Ayton at least once against this type of scheme. He did have post position several times and they just went back to poor man's GS offense between Durant/Booker
semi-related--the suns missing payne has been a big issue in this series, imo. not because payne is awesome but because he's another decent rotation player who's been there before. they're running lee and okogie as the backup pgs, right?
BEAST. Now I’m regretting not talking with him at our launch party last year. He was the designated Pro from the Dubbs that was assigned to show up. My buddy, who’s pretty small, stood on a chair next to Looney for a pic.
I think if he had even a decent post game, they would. Somewhere Hakeem is shaking his head every time he watches most of these modern Centers.
Can only hope the Suns continue playing their three 40+ MPG until they take the Clippers behind the barn and put them down. At least they have toilets to look forward to
How effective will Ja be is the question? His game is completely reliant on athleticism not sure he’s the type of player that can still be effective when banged up guess we’ll find out.
