I was impressed with Lebrons 4th quarter in game one. He let DLo and Reaves initiate down the stretch where they attacked the paint instead of just randomly going for "dagger" 3's. The team made big plays and I really have to credit LB for not forcing it. Also glad the kids stepped up to the light and did the damn thing.

Yeah it was great to see him step aside and let DLo and Reaves do their thing in crunch time.

While I am not sure why there is Larry Bird conversation in Lebron's thread I find this an interesting argument. Stats do not tell a story at all. They tell part of a story and they are often misleading. Someone who didn't watch Bird would could dismiss the man based on statistical speculation. However, the guys that played against him feared him. They feared his shooting and his playmaking. You want "evidence" all you have to do is listen to the guys that played against him. Stats are a tool. I guarantee that the Lakers had one guy they feared most on the Boston team over all others and that was Larry. But since this argument, for some damn reason, is about shooting he didn't have to because he wasn't a player who stood out and just shot from deep. He played a different game than that. That is obvious by the fact he didn't average a ton.

In any case, his peers of the time called him a legendary shooter. Some of the greatest players in NBA history calls this man a great shooter. That seems like solid evidence.

Anyway, ya'll really should create a thread in NBA discussion to argue about this.

I can't stress how huge it is going to be, if the supporting cast can continue to "get stronger as the season gets longer" (to quote Ham). The less of a load that Bron has to carry or try to carry, still don't think he's fully back in a groove from the time he missed, will go a long way in extending our post season run. He's going to have to go to that well and tap into that reserve at some point, but if we're serious about making a run at this thing then the less he has to offensively is HUGE. And it allows him to focus more efforts defensively, which is a big help to the load on AD's plate.

The Bird discussion happened because during the break between games, a person posted that "Bird > Lebron". People replied, including me. I will stop replying about that itt.

No it's a different era. league leaders now routinely put over 700-900 3 per season and Harden had one with over a 1000!
Bird led the league one year with only a 194 (and in those years his 3 pt percentage was .400 or better). He basically scared everyone in the 3 pt shooting contest because everyone in the league knew he was a best shooter

And he routinely put up huge games against guys like Domnique, Pippen, Rodman, etc who were all great athletic defenders. I think this type of post is just old guys aren't as good as the new guys. I kind of get that from the 50's and 60's and maybe 70's but the 80's and beyond the game are similar enough to extrapolate how changes like the 3 point attempts would have happened. Bird was a great shooter statistically, the league also definitely believed it, and in this era he would be putting up way more 3's and he would be awesome at it

This was wonderful ..... never spotted the live or die by "LeBron Ball" rearing its "UGLY" head.

Question is how long can this narcissist handle social media posts like these pumping up his "supporting cast"? ;) :D

Yeah, his 1 three was a catch and shoot in rhythm three he made off a pass from Reaves. We have multiple players that can initiate pick and roll so Lebron can spot up and take good threes, dive to the basket, or set screens.

I'm glad LeBron got out of Reaves way in the 4th so we can win game 1

By default, the offense should be running through DLo/Reaves with a focus on getting AD looks. Lebron playing the safety valve to cut off the open lanes they create, or going one-on-one if the play stagnates.

So much more fluid and fun to watch then starting off with Lebron dominating the ball as the first option!

Ehhh, I see more of a Kidd, Lebron hybrid. He is to Lebron what Kobe was to Jordan.

A magic/bird like hybrid but not as good as either. He is a good player but what Magic and Bird had was the super "IT" factor that just couldn't be denied. It doesn't matter what era to me. Bill Russell, West, Chamberlain, Kareem (the GOAT), Magic, Bird, MJ, Kobe, Shaq would dominate any era the same as Lebron, Curry, KD, would go back and dominate any era. They are just that good. The all time greats are that for a reason. Just my very humble opinion of course. Stats are good talking points but rarely do I pay attention to them over the eye test.

i'd say luka certainly has the IT factor. he just didn't join teams with as much talent as the lakers and C Bags had early in bird and magic's careers. like lebron, he's having drag around much less talent. i think the only thing that will keep luka from being an all-time great is injuries.

Right, he went to the WCF just last year with an okay team. If they had just kept Brunson, DFS, Dinwiddie, and added 2 way players instead of Wood, they would have had a good shot at going to the Finals this year.

And if you ever gave him talent the way MJ, Kobe, Shaq, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Bill Russell, West, Chamberlain, Lebron, Curry, KD, etc had - then yes, Luka and them would have great success and be looked at in a similar light.
