he made a bunch of big plays, and i think his familiarity with some of their guys helped him draw some of those fouls--he knew dort was going to body him once he got his shoulders past. michael cage was freaking out about it, but that was a foul that schroder knew was going to come once he got the step.

Remember Dennis also rolled his ankle bad against the Heat and still closed that game out. He definitely has a toughness that is refreshing to see in the modern nba.

i think him being so light helps here. he also plays close to the ground despite not being a big guy. those two things will keep you on the floor and keep your injuries minor, imo.

but even beyond that, he's pretty tough. he takes hits out there a lot and just rolls with it, iverson style.

Dennis is a gamer, the only thing I don't like about him, is when he sulks and sprawls out on the floor after not getting a foul call. That's rather irritating.

I hate the OKC announcers on a side note. Just never tell you simple things like time, score, bonus, how many TOs left, just oohing aahing on even shots that rim oity

he'd start for 70% of teams, eh?

i'm a huge fan of schroder as a backup pg. he's really good at it. but let's tap the brakes, broseph.

Yes no way Dennis starts for 70% of the teams out there. He’s out playing his minimum contract but that statement is way overselling Dennis.

i'm not sure he starts for 20% of the teams out there. and that's not a bash. there are a lot of good pgs out there. we had a similar discussion when people told me russ was going to get mle+ offers in FA this summer. from whom? who thinks he (or denis) is better than their starting pg?

Yeah, Ham misspoke or he overvalues DS even more then we thought. He's simply not starting on 21 out of 30 teams in the league. He would've been better off saying he'd have a significant role, playing significant minutes on 70% teams; that's still doubtful but easier to argue.
    Just running through the list
    ATL-no
    BOS-no
    BKN-no
    CHA-no
    CHI-maybe (currently starting Bev)
    CLE-no
    DAL-no
    DEN-no
DET-maybe (but they're developing their picks)
    GS-no
    HOU-no
    IND-no

And we're already over the threshold Ham claimed. Here's the rest though

LAC- maybe (they're starting Russ for love of God!)
    LAL-not when team is healthy
    MEM-no
    MIA-no
MIL-maybe (starting POS Allen, if they wanted a 2 PG set, they have the size to make it work)
    MIN-no
    NO-maybe
NY-maybe (requires a 2 PG set, but they don't have overwhelming talent next to Brunson at the 2)
    OKC-no
    ORL-yes
    PHI-no
    PHO-no
    POR-no
    SAC-no
    SA-yes
    TOR-no
    UT-no
    WAS-yes

So I think he just had his percentages flipped, because based on my list there's 70% of teams he absolutely would not start for.

He’s VERY streaky. He’s definitely not consistent enough to be the starting PG on a winning team.
Also, Ham is in over his head. He was and is not ready to be a HC of the Premier Franchise of the NBA.

Schroeder definitely has his weaknesses but he is a very good backup PG on a team with Lebron and AD.
Hope they can resign him and Dlo together - that from what we've seen in glimpses could be as tough of 1-2 punch as you're going to get unless you have someone like Steph on your team

Good game with zero turnovers, hit clutch FTs. No complaints from me. Yes, he's streaky, but he plays well for us and is tough as nails.

His only 3 and he shot poorly all night but his ball handling was critical with everyone out. He's banged up too, ankle is definitely bothering him but he's a tough customer. Had a couple key hustle defensive plays in the 4th and stuck to Curry about as well as you can ask someone to.

He did a good job sticking with Curry as well.

Great D on both Poole and Curry tonight. He also gets much respect for playing on that ankle.

Less clownish than before, but he’s still missing 60+ milly. Worst miscalculation in the history of Western civilization

relatedly--i was going back and forth with folks a few weeks ago about whether offering him that contract was a mistake, and i said i'd have offered it. i get why folks would say we dodged a bullet, but i also think he probably outperforms a bunch of guys at that salary level, too.

whatever the case, having him has helped saved our butts from a sub-30 win season, imo.
