Frank sucked as a coach for 6 out of 7 of his last seasons as a HC. That’s why he got fired in Orlando, and LA. That is what happened and it's not a terrible argument at all. He was pretty good in the bubble season though, or maybe it was just good health. Having a top rated defense alone doesn't make you a good HC.

mike malone's one of the best coaches in the league and has been fired at least twice. same with many others. coaches get fired because you can't fire players and gms and owners don't fire themselves.

nobody could do anything with russ here. phil jackson couldn't have won with russ here.

Man.. Phill couldn't win with AD and Lebron playing 28 and 21 games together either Abeer. That's still the main thing as always, but Frank didn't do himself any favors with the stuff I mentioned.

Never saw one article saying that “posted here”. Why don’t you dig one up. Conversely we all saw the camera cut away shot of Russ clearly snickering to Reaves or whoever was next to him at the idea of him coming off the bench this year when a reporter brought it up to Ham during his introductory presser. Last year it was “do you know who I am Russ” such as his comments when he was finally first dropped from crunch time rotations. (his past resume entitled him to be out there was the attitude). But sure he would have embraced going to the bench …. last year. Vogel had a history since his first year here sticking with players that were struggling such as Bradley and Rondo and ultimately it paid off.

Back to Darvin though. He's getting his own version of life without Lebron and AD playing a lot together. They've played 25 together this season. He doesn't get the luxury of having the bulk of a Championship winning team being together,to start the season like Frank did in 20, and he's been given 5 new rotation pieces in the middle of his first season as a HC. I think that he's done a good job considering these things, and I'll wait to see how it all plays out, right now, I'm Ham over Vogel.

I’d also like to add that our defense continued to be in the top 5 in the post-bubble season after AD went out. It remained that way until Gasol got hurt and we were stuck with Drummond. I distinctly remember pulling the data that summer because one person made the same erroneous argument then that they are making now.

Bulk of what championship winning team being together in 20? The f***?! I was talking about last year’s geriatric no defense, Russ inhibited, injured collection of misfits.

We couldn't win without Lebron and AD playing, in the previous season man. Westbrook wasn't even on the team. So the Westbrook tanked the season stuff is irrational, Lebron and AD played in even less games together last season. I get it, Russ didn't play as well as you expected or hoped. To try and pin Vogel's firing on him though, is over the top. Lebron/AD/Russ played 44 games together in total, they were 22-22. Bad luck on the health front doomed Frank and has hampered Darvin. The same issues Vogel had in 20 were magnified in 21 because Lebron and AD played in even less games and the roster wasn't as good as the previous season. Vogel still had issues which lead to him getting fired and it was not all or mostly Russell Westbrook.

20 wasn't some good season dude. That team had depth and talent. Now 21 yeah..the roster wasn't as good as 20 but that wasn't Westbrook's fault either. Nobody played any defense last season, AD tried at times, it wasn't all on Russ. At least the young kids that year give some effort.

So? The Knicks had a great defense and got bounced in the 1st rd too. Where was that great defense against Phoenix? I mean they were still good without Lebron and AD right? What happened?

honestly have no idea what you're driving at here. demonstrating that vogel's AD-less lakers couldn't beat the team that went to the finals is not a useful point. at all.

The point is..That it's AD and Lebron period. It should be obvious by now. If he had them for a full season he might still be here. If Ham had them he'd be at least top 3 in the West probably 2nd at worst. However I think Ham is better without them than Frank was, and he's a rookie HC.

No s*** Sherlock! It is obvious and no one here ever needed you to explain that. Why in the world do you keep stating it over and over, like you alone are on to something here that no one else gets?????

Because you continue to go on and on, about other stuff, like that was really the main issue LT. IE Westbrook. You totally get it, but you still make over 300 posts about Russell Westbrook? HE got Vogel fired, HE tanked our season? Doesn't come across like EVERYBODY knows that it was Lebron and AD'S availability does it?

I had no other main issue with you, other than your maddening, ludicrous defense of Westbrook in the face of what anyone who follows this team could and did see with their own eyes, with the damned LeBron/AD excuse. That is about WINS or lack of them. Not a defense for how he as an individual did as a basketball player for us.

Well..I always pointed out my own issues with Russ too though. Careless turnovers, too many blown layups, and terrible FT shooting. That always gets swept aside btw.

I just never went as far as you did, about his locker room presence or lack of defense, as these big reasons, for us not winning. Somehow that became me always defending Russell Westbrook. I kept and will keep bringing up Lebron and AD, because that overrides anything related to Westbrook ,as far as the bottom line IMO. 22-22 is what it was, not that great, but not that terrible either.

Other than that, we mostly see a lot of things Lakers related similarly, we are just always at odds over Russ, and Frank.
