I’m inclined not to be harsh on Doug if his marriage is still strong 26 years later. I’m only harsh if you submit a little too much and end up getting divorced anyway. Then it’s one of those things like, dude, you should have known better.

the christie thing was always bizarre to me. i'm happily married for 15 years+, and i'm not into "alpha" culture, but that relationship is...not for me.

you gotta figure lack of familiarity with teammates and system and lineups, etc., will cause at least 2-3 losses in closer games. factor in lebron and AD likely missing a few games each, and 17-6 is a steep hill to climb. 6th is unrealistic to me. 9th/10th is optimistic. the hole is deep.

but the team is better. if we started the season with this team, i'd have had us firmly in the top 5, even accounting for lebron and AD missing some time.

 

The good and the bad of it is most our remaining games are against teams we're chasing. It's entirely in our hands. If we had a heavy east schedule these final 23, it wouldn't matter what we did.

If there ever was a year to jump all the way up to 6th, it's this strange NBA clustered season. I agree, 9 or 10 is much more likely. I think we'll know pretty soon where this is heading by March 8th, that's when we'll have wrapped this determining 7 game stretch. 5-2 is what is needed (dropping both to Memphis), no more, no less.

We can really only lose 6-8 games total to be in the mix for anything. Memphis (2x), Suns (2x), and Clipps... that's 5 right there. That's very little wiggle from for s*** happens games. Luckily we only have two back to backs left, each of them also involve a scheduled loss -- Grizz on the front end of one and Clipps on the back end of the other. Hopefully we're realistic with those and Ham manages the minutes accordingly. Now if the refs f*** us again at all, it's over.

 

Not only do we play the teams we are chasing but they have to play each other. If we lose all the games against Memphis, Phoenix and the Clips then we have no business in the playoffs. We have the superior roster now. AD, Dlo and Lebron stay healthy we cruise. I like that Ham is going to keep the starting line up. We have to have consistency and get roles established quick.
