Meh it’s his pinkie. Tape it to next finger like Kobe and adjust. What’s that …. he’s not Kobe? Never mind.

It might drop from 31% to 29%, not a big deal.

Kobe Bryant will forgo surgery on his right pinkie finger and report to training camp as scheduled when it begins later this month, the Lakers’ guard and reigning NBA most valuable player announced Tuesday on his website.

Bryant said on kb24.com that he consulted with “numerous hand specialists” before making his decision, and opted not to endure a post-operative recovery period that would cause him to miss the start of camp on Sept. 27.

Initially, reports put the recovery period at six weeks, but Bryant said he was told he could’ve been sidelined as long as three months. Bryant injured the finger in a February game, and delayed getting surgery to finish the NBA season and to help the U.S. win a basketball gold medal at the Summer Games in Beijing.

“I have always felt that I can still focus and play at a high level even through various injuries, that’s really just part of the game,” Bryant wrote. “When the doctors told me recovery from a procedure could be 12 weeks, I just decided now was not the time to have surgery.

“What it really came down to for me is that I just didn’t want to miss any time ‘punching the clock’ for the Lakers, given all we are trying to accomplish as a team this NBA season. I am just really excited and looking forward to being there with the guys when camp opens in a few weeks. That is a real bonding process and if I can avoid being on the sidelines for that, God willing, I will.”

We will NEVER see anyone like Kobe ever again. That man was out of his mind. The things that he could do while injured were mind boggling. My wife is a hand therapist with over 40 years of experience. She has seen almost everything and knows what is involved. Kobe blew her away with his ability to play through injuries. He was 1 in a million in that regards. His ability to cope was off the charts. His mental toughness to play through the injuries is the single thing I will remember the most about him. That and all the buzzer beaters.

Uh oh Bron, Jonathan Givony of ESPN (THE guy at Draft Express and one of the best draft experts working) has Bronny at 10 in 2024.

If Bronny was later or if the old 2nd round protection stuck, Bron and Klutch could navigate both Bronny and Bron where they want. If he's high end lotto, that's not going to be so easy.

What's ironic here is he has us slotted at 9 and handing that pick over to the Pelicans from the AD trade.

I know he wouldn't trade the championship. But if the rankings and mock projections stood (and they won't), being in the range to draft your son and to see him go one pick after what would've been your team's pick has got to sting a little.

bronny's 6'3" and not a pg nor a lights out shooter. i just don't see someone going lotto on that.

also, lebron backed off his "play with bronny or bust" comments already. i mean, sure, i guess if NO looks great and they draft him, maybe bron signs a cheap deal to play there. but there are a TON of variables at play.

we're also a full year out. it's within the realm of possibility that laker fans are actually hoping lebron opts out of his contract in 2024.
