He's done this every year since the bubble: looks like he is 35 for about two to three weeks and then something seems to click.

Of course he then gets hurt after hitting the extra gear but I'll try not think about that

He's certainly not 100% back, getting blocked by Brook Lopez in the 4th tells me that much

Clip of AD speaking about it, hopefully it’s the end of it and once the team is fully on the floor they get to work and start winning

I love AD. I believe he wants to win and is trying. But his body is failing him. And it's a tough pill to swallow.

Giannis par for the course after the bubble castrated AD.

Me neither , we'll see his attitude going forward but his name probably came up in trade discussions and he found out

i thought he looked pretty good in the first half, despite the flak he was catching in the game thread. everyone said he was being too passive, but i thought he was taking what the defense was giving him, and we were ahead in a game we shouldn't win. we opened the 2nd half and milwaukee started converting and pulled ahead, and he started forcing things (as the fans were demanding) and it went poorly. as expected. with lebron out against a lopez/giannis back line, he's running uphill the whole time. he pulled down 16 boards and played a lot of defense against giannis, but they're a finals-winning team on a 9-game win streak, and we're half of a 13th place team.

as for the explanation...i'm also not fully convinced. i don't think he's lying about being mad about the game. the pels and thunder losses probably closed the door on the playoffs for us, and that's kind of a huge deal--the rotten cherry on top of the s*** sundae of the last two years.

and ox is probably right, too. he's probably playing through pain and tired of it.

Yeah, I'm sorry but that's not possible. Everyone in the building was aware at all times of Bron's point total, ESPECIALLY the final 6 or so. And if you forgot, anywhere you looked you could see the point total and how many he still needed.

yeah, and after he hit the shot, iirc, AD is just kind of milling around listlessly in the background. and there's the bench scene. he's not telling the whole story. though i guess in fairness, when the reporter initially asks if he wants to talk about it, he says no.

He said what he had to say. It's obviously not true. There's more there. It's a unique moment in sports history, crowd is wild, supposedly his friend is about to make history, we were only losing by 5 and he was pretty lethargic the whole game. So yeah, there's definitely more into that.

But now the trade deadline is over, we got a new brand roster and is time to push for the playoffs.

I believe this is not the end of it and there may be a follow-up over the summer

Hoping its just frustration from his injury and when the season is over it gets fixed and all is well. Otherwise we have bigger problems.

Lebron doesn't usually keep people around that can't get with the program. He has a very short period of time to figure things out or he's likely gone too. But I'm ok with trading bron and AD in the offseason and retooling/stockpiling talent, picks, etc. Bron's window is closing, and AD doesn't seem to have the ability to stay healthy. We'll be competitive with them, but I doubt we win a chip again. If not, why not make the moves to make that possible?

i still think he found out lebron had asked the lakers to shop him at the deadline or something like that. or who knows, maybe he found out westbrick was being traded and they were really close?

If AD was in trade talks we would have had leaks by now. Could be something completely unrelated to basketball.

Those guys are legit close from my understanding (fourth and fifth hand information but it echoes what seems largely said by the media and the two of them when they talk).

That may not be everything that was going through his head at that time but it is very easy for me to believe that they are good and still friends.

My only concern is his health. He looked better last night but we need him to hit that extra gear he had before getting hurt if we are going to make the play in game.

well, at least the denials are consistent.

yeah, he's looked ok to me since coming back. and maybe we don't need him dropping 35 a game now that we've acquired a few more legit scorers. russell and beasley can both fill it up and aren't bashful, so maybe AD can focus on just finding his spots on offense and creating pressure as a lob/dump threat over the next few weeks.
