I have always liked the idea of Mo Bamba. A center who can block shots and shoot the three. But over the past year I’ve heard a lot of critiques about him from Magic fans. So I’m not as high on this trade as some of you, I’ll have to wait and see. But overall, I can’t complain because it makes sense from an asset management perspective. He’s under contract for ~$10 million next year, so if he doesn’t pan out we could probably bundle him and Beasley + the 2029 pick for a solid return this summer.
The gotcha stuff did go too far on here along with what seemed like a lot of people taking comments too personally. We're just a bunch of people chatting on a forum. Hopefully now that some moves have finally been made everyone can relax a bit and enjoy the team again.
Magic fans had high hopes for him particularly given that he was a lottery pick. He hasn't lived up to it but he's still very young and that organization hasn't been the best. I think its a good low risk move. Especially if he helps us on defense and can knock down a 3 here and there.
I think Rob deserved the criticism but he also deserves praise for this deadline. Both things can be true. I'm just ECSTATIC we look like a smart franchise for once and made so many damn good moves for right NOW and next year / future! on top of that...we let go of the 2027 first round pick and PROTECTED IT 1-4 just in case all of this goes to s***. And we still have our 2029 first round pick...and combining that with 2023 pick this coming summer...we'll still have 2 picks to trade. And now? We don't have fricking Westbrook as trade bait....we have legit NBA rotation / starter level guys on the team. But as others have said - I want to see this team grow and gel together. Finally some roster continuity as well with multiple guys having contracts extending into next year (Vanderbilt, Beasley, Bamba, Rui and likely will re-sign DLO)
Thank you lord for delivering Patrick Beverley out of the arms of Darvin Ham to a place far far away .... never to be misused by him again. And the basketball player formerly known as Russell Westbrook to the wilderness of Utah, and from there to wherever his journey takes him next. What this means for coach Ham's "addictions" cold turkey going forward: >>> Russ is gone as the bench PG. Beverley is gone too so he can't do it. That leaves Darvin's BFF Dennis Schroder as the only solution, so he has to be out of the starting lineup as a Laker ..... finally!! After these brilliant moves at the deadline even Darvin Ham could not be stupid enough to pick Dennis Schroder to still start over D'Angelo Russell. Nor to keep Schroder in the starting lineup next to Russell since he will have to run the bench unit.
Every Magic fan says, Bamba is TRASH (Damien Jones level) and only thing he can do, is shoot 3's. We'll see...
he tends to be a positive on both ends of the floor, according to the numbers. not a huge positive, but a positive. they just got crowded in the frontcourt and some other guys outperformed him. and one could argue that neither carter nor bol bol really thoroughly outplayed him.
Oh man I love Mo Bamba. You guys need to see his games against Embiid, it's a must watch. One game he went over 30 with like 7 threes. Great fit to our roster and AD. It's another reclamation project at a cost-controlled contract. Let's see how he fits
