Welcome Mohamed Bamba! Good deal for us. Here is a legit 24-year old (defensive!) center who will give you something like 8/5/1.5 block in limited minutes, and will even shoot almost 40% behind three point line -- he'll launch 1-2 threes each game. He has a freakishly big wingspan (around 7-10!), and will be a perfectly adequate center for us off the bench. He blocks everybody, from star guards such as Harden or Ja, to big guys - Giannis, Embiid, Jokic. His timing for blocks is impeccable.

    Defensive highlights:

And, of course, there's the infamous rap song "Mo Bamba" which I am not going to link here for obvious reasons.

Holy crap Rob ..... what a freaking performance at the deadline against all odds and fighting the Russ tax and the Lakers tax and dealing with Danny Ainge. How much crow needs to be eaten around this place?

No crow needs to be eaten, he had been mediocre to bad before the deadline. He gets a congrats and a thank you, trying to gotcha people after the fact is silly, I can only judge you on the job you’re doing to that point, I don’t operate on faith this isn’t church. Very nice move for Bamba though, low risk high reward, and yet another player potentially under contract for next year, it’s all I’ve been asking for, depth and continuity. Oh and if he ends up using all these new players and the 29 pick and this drafts pick for Bradley Beal at the draft, I’ll be right here “hating” on him again.

I speak to all the vitriol about what he would not do before the deadline stated as fact around here. That seems fair enough. Whoever. If the shoe fits .......

Who said he wouldn’t do anything? Like 2 or 3 people? I’ve been expecting moves for a while, based on Russ clearly wearing out his welcome and stuff like how Aaron Larsuel has been talking on podcasts and spaces. I’d been thinking we trade Russ and Bev for sure, and I’m thrilled what he pulled off. I just don’t get all the gotcha stuff in every thread, I’m glad he’s been good around the margins now, because he sure as hell wasn’t before, and the criticism was warranted.

Why are YOU taking this so personal. It's not directed at YOU. Whatever we discussed on that other reporting was different reads, and maybe I was wrong but I could of sworn there was some additional copy not included in what you posted yesterday where he did say something positive toward "incremental" moves. Why I even brought it up then because I AGREE with you about the 3 star all vet min approach sucking. And again I could be wrong but I bet there have been more than just 2 or 3 people stating as fact, at different times, that he wasn't going to do jack at the deadline. Because Jeanie sucks and only cares about tickets and merchandise.

Because I neither like nor get the gotcha stuff here, unless it’s on other teams, I don’t get it regarding our own fellow Lakers fans. I’m trying to enjoy this deadline and celebrate it and I have to keep reading everywhere oh we have to apologize to Rob, gotta eat crow, sarcastic comments about the margin, I don’t have to apologize for him finally doing his job after wasting almost 3/4 of a season of LeBron at 38. If you can find Rob saying something positive regarding incremental moves, great, but I don’t remember it. And also, I’m still not high on Jeanie, she has a lot to prove still, but this deadline was a great step, let’s hope in the off-season we don’t let it all walk to save money or ship it all off for a “star”, i reserve judgment until then. I don’t need, and I’ve never felt the need to stick up for our GM and our owner, if they do their jobs right they won’t need any defending. Anyway, Mo Bamba, nice trade for us, I hope he comes in motivated to make the playoffs after being on a losing franchise his whole career.

There's also a lot of us that don't like nor get the many attacks and statements of fact with no knowledge of the future against the FO about things they are going to do because OF (they suck). We deal. So if a chance to get a dig in for all that crap .... excuse me!

Agree on margins up to this deadline. "How bout them margins" in the big trade was hardly an attack on anyone.

Ok, you’re excused. The FO has sucked man, Rob had to work hard to undo all the bad he did, and I’m incredibly glad for that, but again, I can only judge on what he had done, and the Russ move was the worst trade in Lakers history. I just want to enjoy this team now, no more Russ, no more Bev, younger, more shooting, more athletic, let’s go.

yeah, there was a lot of unwarranted doomsaying here that sort of swallowed up half the discourse on the site for months. rob's not an idiot. he never was. we don't know the team's plans, and that's by design.

can we at least now not do this in the future?

edit: and lebron made the russ trade, which is why he was fired as gm. he needs to eat some crow today, too, for all his b*******.

With the shooting, could you play him with AD together? Still don't have 3 and D guy with ideal size for the 3

i think you can, but i don't think it works nicely in ham's offense, right. mo's a catch and shoot only guy from three (can't pass or put the ball on the floor). but yeah, in theory, a guy who can defend the paint and knock down open threes is the ideal AD partner more generally, right?
