I noticed that Kareem part as well. Cap was ready to grab the mic but Silver just shut him down. Awkward moment.

And I sincerely hope we acquiesce to his desire to leave so we can start the rebuild properly. It'll be nice to be excited to watch the Lakers again. The past two seasons have been a drag. I would much rather watch a group of hungry kids get after it than Lebron use our enormous fan base to further HIS brand.

yeah, i'd hardly call myself a lebron hater; i wasn't before he came here, either. but i don't think there's any way to misinterpret those comments. it would be different if he wasn't constantly saying things like this. but he is. i just don't have any sympathy for him having to finish his career with our crappy franchise. we're crappy right now because you wanted russ. end of story.

There is a line between justifiable gripes with specific antics/on-court habits and unreasonable hate. Some are on one side of that line, some are on the other.

I think the reason why I don’t see the “on any franchise” line as problematic IS because it’s nothing new. To me, it was an agreeable statement of fact. He foresees himself being able to continue to play for many years, well past the duration of his contract with us, and he wants to compete for championships. That’s not a “RoB tRaDe AlL tHe PiCkS” type of pout, just an honest take on how he feels about his longevity and aspirations.

My view on Lebron’s future with us: I want to see us move our expiring contracts (and reasonable amounts of necessary draft compensation) within the next 24 hours to put together a formidable roster for next year. If we do so, I think Lebron and AD could potentially lead us to contention next year (ignoring any potential rift in their personal relationship) and it would be worthwhile to give that a shot.

If we can’t swing a trade and are going into the summer without even maximum salary amount of cap room, I don’t think it’s viable for us to build a contender. In that scenario I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to trade Lebron and start rebuilding.

The more Lebron-pleasing the franchise did and becoming more Lebron-centric, their winning ways have gone in the opposite direction. Fair to say the last 2 years of attempts in appeasing Lebron has not been productive for the team but only resulted in improving his personal legacy. They're mediocre on the court and not fun to watch. It started with Lebron. "A fish rots from the head down."

How have the Lakers been "relevant" the last two years?

What a great and magnanimous statement of Kareem's thoughts about the record and about LeBron.

I can't be the only one who was uncomfortable though watching Kareem standing (for LeBron) on the sideline, patiently, for like five or more minutes before he was finally brought over to join him. I'm certain if Kobe had broken it that in very short order he would have gone on over to Kareem rather than Kareem "finally" summoned over to where LeBron was getting his accolades. I do feel, in spite of Kareem stating that he thought LeBron was too mature or whatever to still feel negative about the Covid protocol "jab" :giggle: he gave LeBron publicly at the time ..... that in fact LeBron did still hold it against him. Otherwise why such a cold remark when asked about whether or not he had any relationship with Kareem.

James did say that he and Abdul-Jabbar have "no relationship" so there's that. Didn't he also criticize James for that 'big balls" dance which Bryant did at one point?

He last night did ask the fans to give The Captain a standing ovation.

Well yes Cap did criticize the big balls dance he did (Kobe of course had as well) and glad to hear LeBron did that … didn’t know.

I thought exactly the same thought. Kobe would have ran over to Kareem. No doubt in my mind.
